A dazzling burst of Warp light spilled from Magnus's room, only to be suppressed by the Blackstone Array outside.

Magnus had long since made all sorts of alterations to his room, using extensive Spatial Sorcery to expand its actual area several hundredfold.

Inside stood a vast collection of xenos creations, Chaos Artefacts, and even Ancient Remnants.

Ever since meeting the Xenos Deity, the goddess of the T'au, Magnus had plunged into almost frenzied research. He felt himself drawing ever closer to the "truth."

But when the truth lay before him, Magnus found it utterly absurd and cruel.

He sat at his desk, gazing up at the enormous "Eightfold Chaos" painted on the wall-the Chaos Star commonly worshipped by Chaos Cultists.

Starting from the uppermost point at due north and proceeding clockwise, eight ancient terms were inscribed:

Encroaching ruin

Infernal tempest

Malevolent artifice

Rapturous sensation

Ravenous dissolution

Putrid corruption

Formless distortion

Heedless slaughter

These eight extremes represented the eight most absolute desires of the Warp. All things in existence that possessed souls inevitably fed power into them.

This Chaos Star had been passed down since ancient times, yet neither its origin nor how it had spread was known. Perhaps even the Old Ones, the earliest beings born in the Warp, did not know where this symbol came from.

(PS: Fucking GW copied the Chaos Star's lore straight from Warhammer Fantasy and couldn't make it fit. They dug a plot hole and never filled it.)

According to the meaning of the Chaos Star, there should originally have been eight deities, yet only four true "gods" existed in the Warp now.

Of course, none of that mattered now. What mattered most was the symbol lighting up within the Eight-Pointed Star.
