The temple doors were pushed open, and several Aspect Warriors helped Autarch Skayor into the sanctuary.

The mighty Autarch Skayor looked utterly battered. His left arm was gone, more than half the armor on his back had melted, and his War Mask had long since fallen away.

Skayor dropped to one knee and coughed up blood, while the Aspect Warriors around him held their weapons ready and watched their surroundings warily.

Looking into the distance from the sanctuary, they saw a massive Wraithguard let out a defiant roar. After cleaving several Astartes apart with one final strike, it collapsed helplessly to the ground.

The Aeldari defensive lines were collapsing faster and faster. Their warriors were brave and skilled; even ordinary Guardians could reliably defeat mortal human soldiers, while the Avengers who walked the Warrior Path could rival Astartes.

Yet faced with human armies surging toward them like a tide, the Aeldari felt utterly powerless.

Under the command of abominable intelligence and the War Sages, the human armies executed all manner of orders with the methodical precision of the Tyranid Swarm, while enormous war machines mercilessly crushed one defensive line after another.

The Tyranid Swarm might have been terrifying, but humans fighting with nothing held back were even more frightening.

Autarch Skayor glanced at the army approaching in the distance.

"Come. We're going to the Temple of Khaine."

When Autarch Skayor arrived at the Temple of Khaine, a gathering of Aeldari Farseers and the Seer Council's elite guard were already waiting there.

But they were not the center of attention. Instead, they surrounded a young Aeldari woman seated beneath the statue of Khaine.

Farseer Effenrich glanced at Autarch Skayor, who merely nodded.
