• Wang Yan watched Wang Qing, possessed by the Old Ancestor, destroy Wang Ziling and take leadership of the Wang Household, while Wang Ziling survived and fled.
• Wang Yan sold Ma Ang the Moon-Embracing Purple Mountain map, joined the Ma Family as Ma Shi, and learned that Ma Ang carried the Water-Type Immortal Card Artifact.
• Ma Ang sent Wang Yan to protect Ma Laosan, but the Lü Household ambushed their Flying Boat and captured Ma Laosan while Wang Yan escaped with Madam Ma.
• Wang Yan learned that the Purple Flame Sect had recruited the Lü Household, then infiltrated their camp, killed Lü Zijun and the Fifth Elder, and rescued Ma Laosan.
• Fairy Purple Smoke pursued Wang Yan, but he escaped with Ma Laosan and brought him back to safety as the Ma Family came under attack.
• Wang Yan flew to Ma Valley and saw Ma Ang and Elder Du fighting a Purple Flame Sect cultivator before Lü and Purple Flame forces attacked the valley’s restriction array.

Wang Yan claimed the treasures of Moon-Embracing Purple Mountain, advanced his cultivation, and returned to the Firecloud Sect as war with Lin Nation erupted. After joining a scouting vanguard, he fled Lingyunzi’s pursuit and used traps and puppets to fight him, but Lingyunzi’s attacks forced Wang Yan to rely on the Cave Abode Secret Realm Pagoda.

• Wang Yan entered Moon-Embracing Purple Mountain, survived the Purple Mountain Medicine Sage’s possession, and gained the Sage’s help and two True Immortal Spirit Treasures.
• Wang Yan trapped Ma Ang and Elder Du in the mountain’s formation, killed Ma Ang with the Spirit Cannon, repaired the Water-Type Immortal Card Artifact, and advanced to early Core Condensation.
• Wang Yan returned to the Firecloud Sect, cultivated and refined Immortal Cards, then secretly sheltered Zhang Qiulin and Zhang Qiulang while reaching great completion of the Core Condensation Realm.
• Ye Shisan told Wang Yan that Lin Nation’s Three Great Sects had declared war on Cloud Nation, and Venerable Gray Three assigned Wang Yan to defend Yellow Cloud Peak rather than join the campaign.
• Lingyunzi recruited Wang Yan, Ye Shisan, and the Zhang sisters for a scouting vanguard, then led them into a clash with masked cultivators whose Black-Light Beads scattered the team.
• Wang Yan fled with Ye Shisan and the Zhang sisters, but Lingyunzi tracked them down and demanded that the women and Ye Shisan help kill Wang Yan.

• Lingyunzi evaded the puppets and attacked Wang Yan with his Golden Gourd, but Wang Yan used the Cave Abode Secret Realm Pagoda to deflect its golden beams as Card Fairy warned him to run.

Wang Yan used Lingyunzi and his hidden abilities to capture the Black Evil King, rescue the Five Sects’ trapped army, and destroy the enemy formation. As the war turned in Cloud Nation’s favor, Wang Yan’s Vanguard Team fell into a trap laid by Dark Cyan Poison Venerable, who pursued them to seize Lingyunzi.

• Ye Shisan redirected Lingyunzi’s Golden Gourd beam, and Wang Yan trapped the weakened Lingyunzi before having Purple Mountain Medicine Sage turn him into a controllable puppet.
• Wang Yan took Lingyunzi to the Black Evil Sect’s valley, where the Black Evil King emerged and slaughtered cultivators from both sides.
• Card Fairy guided Wang Yan into the sealed valley, and Lingyunzi weakened the Black Evil King so Wang Yan could capture him and force the remaining Black Evil Sect fighters to surrender.
• Martial Uncle Ye took Wang Yan and Lingyunzi to join True Lord Ziyang and other Nascent Soul cultivators on a mission to rescue the Five Sects’ trapped army.
• Wang Yan opened a passage through the enemy formation, then lured two guards into an ambush and killed them with a Water-Fire Blast Card.
• Wang Yan destroyed the formation core and took four spirit treasures, allowing Cloud Nation’s forces to break free and counterattack Lin Nation.
• Lingyunzi led the Vanguard Team to attack a Wicked Poison Sect supply party, but Dark Cyan Poison Venerable revealed the party had been bait and struck at them.
• Wang Yan summoned the Black Evil King to cover the team’s retreat, while Dark Cyan Poison Venerable pursued them to capture Lingyunzi and learn his control method.

Wang Yan survived the war’s aftermath, turned aside Lin Juan and her challengers, and left Firecloud Divine Mountain to pursue cultivation and repair his dantian. He emerged from a long seclusion in a purple mountain after breaking through to the Golden Core Stage and traveling across the Thirty-Two Kingdoms Continent.

• Lingyunzi detonated himself to destroy the Dark Cyan Poison Venerable’s body, and Wang Yan escaped with the Vanguard Team before the Black Evil King helped him kill their pursuers.
• Wang Yan exchanged pills to heal Liu Wushuang’s arm, then regained his resolve through Dao enlightenment and advanced his cultivation before Cloud Nation’s allies forced Lin Nation to end the war.
• Wang Yan returned to Yellow Cloud Peak, refused Venerable Gray Three’s proposal that he become Lin Juan’s dual cultivation partner, and ignored the rumors and challenges that followed.
• Wang Yan accepted Li Xiao’s duel, defeated him and several other challengers, then left Firecloud Divine Mountain after Zhu Qian also challenged him.
• Wang Ziling heard of Wang Yan’s progress and vowed revenge while Wang Yan traveled to cultivate away from Firecloud Divine Mountain.
• The Treasure-Seeking True Person discovered a purple mountain rising from ancient ruins and found Wang Yan inside, where they spoke for ten or twelve hours.
• Wang Yan revealed he had broken through to the Golden Core Stage, refined several Immortal Cards, and spent a little over a hundred years seeking artifacts and materials to repair Wang Ziling’s damage to his dantian.
