Background / History
The Second Prince originally competed with the First Prince for the Imperial Throne. He maintained a court of subordinates and attempted to exploit a mole within the First Prince’s faction, while the First Prince regarded his actions—including attempts on his life—as a serious threat 1665 1667.
After being captured by the First Prince and Uchiha Hikaru, he admitted that he had not prepared for war as their father had wished. The First Prince imprisoned him, later describing the confinement as a warning rather than an attempt to execute him 1677 1678 1790.
He escaped the Imperial Palace through a window leading to an illusory forest, but Uchiha Hikaru found and returned him. During the search, Hikaru confiscated the prince’s ice-like blade and outer garment; the Second Prince was subsequently banished temporarily 1688 1694 1695.
The First Prince eventually tested his brother’s reliability by sending him on investigations with Uchiha Hikaru. The Second Prince gradually became involved in the hunter village, ancient talismans, and the protection of divine beasts. He contributed historical knowledge, discovered unusual patterns, and developed a more cooperative relationship with both his brother and Hikaru 1702 1711 1738 1743.
Following the First Prince’s approval, he was given an opportunity to prove his judgment and gain authority. He helped organize divine-beast summoning and later took responsibility for observing and reporting changes among the beasts 1762 1768 1811.
By the time he obtained the divine beasts’ items, the Second Prince had become closely associated with their younglings and management. However, his growing ambition later concerned both the First Prince and Uchiha Hikaru 1872 1892 1896.
During his final conflict with Hikaru, he attempted to use his bloodline power to control divine beasts and was swallowed by them. He later emerged in his Golden Body, attacked Hikaru directly, and was ultimately killed after being overwhelmed in combat 1901 1903 1904.
Personality
Initially, the Second Prince is ambitious, proud, and calculating. He can endure grievances in silence while waiting for an opportunity to retaliate, and Uchiha Hikaru considers him difficult to read because of his outwardly gentlemanly behavior 1672.
He is also impulsive and inexperienced outside palace life. He repeatedly relies on Hikaru for protection and direction during expeditions, though he gradually learns to acknowledge Hikaru’s superior judgment rather than insisting on his own 1706 1722 1730.
His experiences with the hunters and divine beasts make him more responsible and resolute. He comes to value cooperation with the First Prince, shows concern for his country, and chooses to face dangers rather than retreat from them 1743 1811 1842.
