Arc 1The White Stone’s Power

Zhang Xingyan grew close to Ju Ying, gained a strange power from the white stone, and began learning the Dao while working at Flower Moon House. After playing Water Dragon’s Chant on Horseshoe Mountain, he found an ancient sword inside the crumbled stone and carried it home.

  • Old Zhang asked Master Ji to name his son, and Zhang Xingyan began attending the Ji Household’s private school while repeatedly asking Qinghe to accept him as a disciple.
  • After moonlight struck the white stone on Horseshoe Mountain, a powerful force passed through Xingyan, though people in Raozhou denied seeing anything unusual.
  • Xingyan guided Ju Ying and Uncle Cheng around Raozhou, grew closer to Ju Ying, and helped her rescue a herb seller and his daughter by forcing Chen Kui and Magistrate Lü to release them.

Arc 2The Road to Mount Luofu

Xing Yan uncovered Hu Shi'an’s betrayal of Lady Rui, grew closer to Ling Yier, and left Raozhou to lead Four Seas Hall after Horseshoe Mountain rose. On the way to Mount Luofu, he befriended Qiong Rong and arrived at the mountain after questioning Chen Ziping’s views of spirits.

  • Xing Yan exposed Hu Shi'an’s gambling and deceit to Lady Rui, but she rejected his warning, and three years later she died by suicide while mourning her parents.

  • Xing Yan arrived at Shangqing Palace, met Ling Xu Zi, and took up the low-profile position of Four Seas Hall master on Mount Luofu.

Back at Thousand Birds Cliff, he faced trouble involving Kou Xueyi, welcomed Ju Ying, received an imperial honor, and destroyed a Dao Soul that tried to take over his body.

  • Xing Yan volunteered to help the government in Jieyang County, learned the Sword-Riding Art, and left Thousand Birds Cliff for the bandit campaign.
  • Qiong Rong followed Xing Yan from Mount Luofu, insisted on joining him, and traveled with him to Jieyang County.
  • Xing Yan met Bao Chuxiong and the Celestial Master Order disciples, proved his Fire-Avoidance Talisman worked, and joined the march on Firecloud Mountain.
