Gua went to Orochimaru's Laboratory again.
There was still facial recognition, and Anko was still the only person there.
Anko was doing some sort of cell experiment, hunched over a microscope and babbling about discovering the secrets inside cells.
Gua took a look.
The girl had actually discovered the structure of the cell membrane, as well as the fact that some things could pass through it while others could not.
Gua told her this was called selective permeability.
"Keep researching, and you'll discover the phospholipid layer, the proteins on the cell membrane, carbohydrates..."
Anko was dumbstruck. "You've never even been in the Laboratory. How do you know all this?"
"I have cheats," Gua said.
Anko didn't understand, but she was deeply impressed. She felt she had to follow Gua's line of thinking in her research. Maybe he was right.
After all, who could spout nonsense with such a straight face?
Gua wasn't that sort of person, either.
Even her teacher sought Gua's advice on science, and she trusted his authority herself.
When it came to science in Konoha, Gua was a mountain almost impossible to scale.
To this day, Anko couldn't understand why someone as gifted as Gua wouldn't devote himself entirely to science. If he did, he would surely bring Konoha's scientific knowledge to unprecedented heights.
Before Gua left, Anko voiced the question that had been troubling her.
The corner of Gua's mouth twitched when he heard it.
Do you seriously think I'm Einstein?
Everything I know comes from required high school physics, required high school chemistry, required high school biology...
Once you've squeezed those scraps of knowledge out of me, you'll realize I'm completely useless.
"I'm not interested in science."
Gua tossed out that excuse to brush Anko off, then left with Kabuto.
