More business had come his way!

The four trotters from the Eerie Pig they had killed earlier would all be his, too.

The Heavenly Craftsman Sequence was ridiculously sought-after in this Anomalies apocalypse!

Although he was only Sequence 9, a total rookie with limited ability to fuse sacrificial items, it was enough.

Fusing sacrificial items consumed his Mental Power. His Sequence placed no restrictions on using his ability, but his Mental Power did.

By his estimate, with his current Mental Power, three fusions a day was the limit if he wanted to maintain his existing combat strength.

He could go beyond three, but the Mental Power consumed would exceed what he could handle. Specifically, his combat strength would drop, and his reactions would slow if something unexpected happened.

Chu Sheng had one sacrificial item fusion left today. He had originally planned to make a little something for himself, but now Captain Hui had arrived.

With business at his door, Chu Sheng immediately shelved the little gadget he had been planning.

Captain Hui walked over and glanced at An Xi, who was standing in a daze with the Black Jade Bone Spear. Puzzled, he asked, "What's wrong?"

"Looks like your spear fused perfectly with the zombie's spine. Why are you standing here in a daze?" Captain Hui adjusted his glasses and spoke in his usual mild manner.

At his words, An Xi looked up at him and Chu Sheng resentfully. Without saying a word, she walked away carrying the Black Jade Bone Spear.

Captain Hui turned his gaze to Chu Sheng, who smiled back at him.

"Don't worry about her. The White Jade Spear got a pretty big boost after fusing with that zombie spine. She probably just doesn't like how the Black Jade Bone Spear looks. It really doesn't suit a girl's tastes."

Captain Hui nodded at his explanation. He hadn't realized it earlier, but now that he thought about it, a girl carrying a bone spear did look rather odd.

Neither of them continued discussing An Xi. Captain Hui opened the pickup's rear door, put the pig trotters he was carrying inside, then took out a dagger and the Zombie Fingernails he had just received.

Besides those, he also produced a bone fragment that looked very sharp.

Chu Sheng could sense a supernatural aura coming from the bone fragment. Clearly, it was another supernatural material.

Captain Hui said nothing after taking out the materials, but Chu Sheng naturally understood what he wanted and accepted the dagger, Zombie Fingernails, and bone fragment.

He didn't fuse them right away, though. Instead, he looked at Captain Hui and said, "Brother Hui, fusing two supernatural materials at once costs extra!"

"With my current ability, I can only manage two fusions a day. If it's a sacrificial item like yours, with two supernatural materials fused at once, I can only make one."

"Really?" Captain Hui glanced at the transformed Butcher Knife Chu Sheng had placed beneath the windshield and gave a knowing chuckle.

Without batting an eye, Chu Sheng tucked the knife into his belt, then nodded firmly. "But then again, who are we to each other?"

"Even if I work myself to death, burn through every last bit of Mental Power, and die right here, I'll still make it for you!" He thumped his chest in assurance.

"Sorry for the trouble, then." Captain Hui adjusted his glasses.

"But you can't do this next time. Fusing multiple supernatural materials at once means paying an extra half a supernatural material as my fee."

"Sure."

Once he agreed, Chu Sheng placed the three items in his hands together and activated his ability!

A white light enveloped them.

Chu Sheng immediately felt a little tired. Leaning against the truck, he yawned.

His Mental Power had reached its safe limit.

As the white light slowly faded, information about the sacrificial item appeared in Chu Sheng's mind.

[Bone-Poison Dagger] [Sacrificial item ranking: 3714] [Ability 1: A dagger fused with Black Zombie Nails and a sharp bone fragment. Increased sharpness, toughness, damage, and toxicity. Intimidates skeletons!] [Ability 2: Attacks inflict corpse poison and a curse. Anyone of the same Sequence whose defenses are breached will die suddenly within three days!] [Sacrificial item: A supernatural item. Every use comes at a price!] [Cost of use: A dagger that craves curses. You must curse yourself one hundred times a day. Failure to meet this condition will result in the dagger cursing you!] [Hidden attribute: If you are Chu Sheng, there is no cost of use!]

Chu Sheng suddenly felt reluctant to hand the dagger over. It was the highest-ranked sacrificial item he had ever seen.

Sudden death within three days for anyone at the same level? Didn't that fucking border on a conceptual power?!

Before this, the highest-ranked item he had seen was An Xi's Spear, which ranked somewhere in the five thousands.

Before he could act on that thought, however, Captain Hui took the Bone-Poison Dagger. He stood still, apparently examining the sacrificial item's abilities.

A few seconds later, Captain Hui smiled and gave Chu Sheng a satisfied thumbs-up.

"Just what I'd expect from you! You actually managed to make a sacrificial item like this!"

"I'll come to you again next time!"

Chu Sheng: "..."

I'm the only person you know who can make sacrificial items. Who else would you go to?!

Talk about stating the obvious!

He didn't let those thoughts show. Instead, he looked at Captain Hui with an equally broad smile. "Captain..."

"No more!" Captain Hui seemed to know what he was about to say and cut him off before he could finish. "I stumbled across that bone fragment earlier. I only had one!"

"Before you awakened, I did think supernatural materials might be useful later, but most of them were pretty big. Besides, they were useless to carry around and took up space, so I threw a lot of them away."

"I only kept this bone fragment because it didn't take up any room." Captain Hui offered a brief explanation, holding the Bone-Poison Dagger.

The dagger's ranking was clearly thanks to that bone fragment. As for the Zombie Fingernails, they weren't actually all that useful. They were barely enough to make a sacrificial item.

The dagger itself went without saying. It was an ordinary dagger; otherwise, he wouldn't have brought it over to be fused into a sacrificial item.

"All right." Chu Sheng was a little disappointed, though not too much. He had already suspected as much before asking.

After all, if Captain Hui had any more supernatural materials like that bone fragment, he probably would have brought them along already.

"Oh, right." Captain Hui had been about to leave when he seemed to remember something and turned to Chu Sheng.

"I put in a good word for you around the convoy. If anyone brings you supernatural materials and asks you to help fuse a sacrificial item, help them out if you can."

"After all, we're all part of the same convoy. It's better if everyone avoids unnecessary conflict." He offered the advice earnestly.

"Since the apocalypse began, aside from the people in the various roaming convoys, everyone everywhere else has probably died out."

Chu Sheng nodded noncommittally, but he didn't take it to heart. If he couldn't survive himself, what did humanity dying out have to do with him?

As for sacrificial items, he didn't care whether the customers were ordinary people. As long as they could provide supernatural materials and afford his price, he was happy to do business.

Seeing Chu Sheng nod, Captain Hui didn't concern himself with whether his advice had actually sunk in. He left with the Bone-Poison Dagger.
