Captain Hui sat in the vehicle, calculating on the fingers of his right hand for a moment before lowering it. He took a sip of water from his insulated flask, then, as though something had occurred to him, quietly spoke.
"I curse myself to choke to death drinking water."
The driver was already used to it. Ever since Captain Hui had obtained that dagger, he had cursed himself every day, saying it now and then or cursing himself dozens, even hundreds of times in one go.
At first, the driver had been puzzled, but after a few days, he had gotten used to it.
After cursing himself once, Captain Hui opened the door just as An Xi reached it.
Seeing the door open, she was about to speak, but Captain Hui beat her to it. "I already know why you're here."
"Don't panic, and don't be surprised. He's fine."
An Xi: "..."
"I haven't even said anything yet. How do you know what I'm going to say?"
An Xi felt rather indignant. The captain was good in every other respect, but he loved playing the mystic.
"Such is the will of heaven," Captain Hui said cryptically.
"Chu Sheng's situation isn't a big problem. I'll warn you when the Anomalies come."
An Xi left.
She left in a very good mood.
The driver left too, calling on the others in the convoy to start resting and telling them how long they would be stopping.
Only Captain Hui remained in the vehicle, rubbing his chest.
"I'd better stop being so cryptic when talking to An Xi."
Captain Hui rubbed his chest. An Xi had just punched him.
Luckily, she hadn't used Geng Metal Power, or that probably would have been the end of him.
"What the hell is the White Tiger Sequence?
