Miss Yucas was not in the best state when she left Alt Corporation.
For one thing, she had received so much information in such a short time that she could not yet tell what was true. For another, the information Jonas had given her was so shocking that she would need some time to fully absorb it.
Sitting in her car, Miss Yucas seemed lost in thought, her hands moving rather absently on the steering wheel.
The scenery slowly slipped backward outside the windows. Just then, her Communicator sounded in her ear. Yucas paused and saw the name of her contact in the Peacekeeping Forces in the upper-right corner of her vision.
Yucas answered the call and asked coldly:
"What is it?"
"Is there anyone with you, Director Amili?"
"Not at the moment. If you have something to say, make it quick."
This was Yucas's own car, so she did not need to worry about listening devices inside it. Besides, she was already some distance from Alt Corporation, and they were unlikely to have sent someone to follow her and listen in.
With Miss Yucas's countersurveillance skills, it was also unlikely that she would fail to notice someone following her.
Thus, even though the call came from the Peacekeeping Forces, Miss Yucas was not overly cautious.
"I take it you're working on the assignment concerning Alt Corporation, Director Amili."
The man on the other end paused before continuing:
"The higher-ups in the Peacekeeping Forces held a meeting about Alt Corporation two days ago. Since you were still on assignment, Director Amili, we decided not to recall you."
"Right. Just tell me what they decided."
