Calm down first-
For a moment, Jonas failed to grasp what she meant. Once he did, however, he found it rather hard to stay calm.
Never mind what she wanted it for... the condition that it had to be "used" was enough on its own to put Jonas on his guard.
Keeping his expression neutral, he asked, "May I ask what you want my handkerchief for, Miss Kyudai Li?"
Meanwhile, Miss Kyudai Li's brain had also crashed over the words she had blurted out.
-What were you thinking, Kyudai Li?! You stupid, idiotic paramecium!!
Kyudai Li had acted on a sudden impulse, blurting out those words without thinking. The "reward" Jonas had mentioned was simply too tempting, making her instinctively name what she wanted.
By the time she came to her senses, it was too late for regrets. All she wanted now was to strangle herself from a second ago. Still, the girl reacted quickly. The instant Jonas asked his question, she dropped into a textbook Dogebza before him, her forehead hitting the floor with a thud.
"I'm truly, terribly sorry! Please forget what I just said."
Seeing the girl assume that pose, Jonas found himself somewhat amused.
He helped her up and said:
"I was only asking what you wanted it for. I wasn't trying to scold you."
Then he took a handkerchief out of his pocket, placed it in her hands, and said:
"I already promised you a reward, so of course I won't go back on my word. I only asked out of curiosity."
"If you don't want to tell me, Miss Kyudai Li, you don't have to."
Feeling the soft cotton against her palm, Kyudai Li froze for a moment. When she recovered, she was so moved that tears welled in her eyes.
