There was no doubt that whoever attacked Amau Sueko at a time like this had done so to escalate the conflict.

Aungus understood that perfectly. If Amau Sueko actually died in the attack, the conflict would undoubtedly reach its breaking point.

On the surface, it seemed that most people in the organization suspected Amau Sueko. After all, Miss Amau was often out of touch with the rank-and-file members.

But that did not mean no one believed in her... many of the Destiny Organization's leaders had witnessed the benefits Amau Sueko brought to the organization, and many others had survived disasters precisely because of her.

That was exactly why Aungus had hesitated to make a decision... if he truly expelled Amau Sueko from the Destiny Organization, some people would inevitably lose faith in them.

The people seated before him reacted differently to his words.

Finally, Rick, the "Gecko," spoke:

"I told you long ago that this incident had left many people within the Destiny Organization dissatisfied with its leadership. I also warned you that once things reached that point, it would be hard to bring them under control."

His voice was somewhat low as he looked at Aungus and asked:

"So what do you intend to do now?"

Aungus looked grim. He had been unsure whether Rick's claims were true, and that had directly led to this troublesome situation.

In other words, he had reached the point where he had no choice but to make a decision.

He could only offend one side to maintain a temporary peace.

Aungus took a deep breath and was just about to speak when a knock came at the conference room door.

The sound drew everyone's attention. Aungus frowned, but still said:

"Come in."

The door opened, and a uniformed member of the Destiny Organization appeared before them. His expression was urgent, but he froze briefly at the sight of everyone seated around the conference table.

"What is it?"

Aungus showed no displeasure. If the man had chosen to interrupt their meeting at a time like this, he clearly had something important to report.

Hearing the question, the man looked at Aungus and said somewhat nervously:

"Mr. Aungus, there's news from the treatment room."

"Is it about Amau Sueko being attacked by members of the organization? I already know about that."

No sooner had Aungus finished speaking than the man shook his head and said:

"No."

He hesitated before continuing:

"It's... Miss Amau. She's awake."

Amau Sueko had awakened. For the Destiny Organization, that was both good news and bad news.

It meant that the conflicts of the past few days had finally reached the moment of reckoning, and that Aungus would now have to make a decision.

In the treatment room, Amau Sueko remained calm. Looking at the Destiny Organization members surrounding her, she had a vague idea of what had happened, but said nothing.

A moment later, the treatment room door opened, and Aungus walked in.

He looked at the somewhat pale Amau Sueko before him, his gaze conflicted.

"You're awake."

"Was I brought back by the Wetting Conglomerate?"

She looked at Aungus, reading something in his conflicted gaze.

After a moment of silence, Aungus nodded and said:

"Yes."

Within just a few minutes, she had worked out the situation she was in.

"People in the organization suspect I'm a traitor?" she asked.

"Sixteen minutes ago, members of the organization attacked your treatment room."

Aungus kept it brief, making it immediately clear to Amau Sueko just how dire her situation was.

She took a deep breath, cleared the distracting thoughts from her mind, and asked:

"Why?"

Although she knew that people with ulterior motives might exploit her return, she could not imagine how they had escalated the situation to this extent in so little time.

"Records of the Destiny Organization's transactions with other conglomerates were leaked."

He watched Amau Sueko. Her reaction was not what he had expected.

Amau Sueko raised her head in startled confusion, seemingly genuinely unaware of how this could have happened, and asked:

"Do you have a suspect... or do you mean me?"

Aungus paused at her words, but did not answer her directly.

Her response did not quite align with his original suspicions...

He had originally thought she was inextricably involved in this matter. Now, it seemed someone else had leaked the information.

Aungus kept that thought to himself. He merely frowned, then continued:

"There's something else..."

As he spoke, he held the video in front of Amau Sueko.

In the video, Amau Sueko aimed her gun at Ian Strala and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Opposite her, Ian Strala collapsed to the ground as the bullet struck his head.

Judging solely by this footage, there was no doubt that Amau Sueko had ambushed and killed Ian Strala.

"What exactly happened in this video?" Aungus asked, lowering his hand and looking at Amau Sueko.

After watching the video, Amau Sueko fell into a daze. It took her a long while to recover.

Her voice was bitter as she said:

"Ian Strala was a traitor. Jonas set me up."

Aungus nodded at that. It was much as he had suspected, so he did not press her further, only asking:

"Do you have any way to clear your name? Or evidence that he was a traitor?"

At his words, Amau Sueko immediately thought of the video she had decrypted before.

But before relief could rise in her heart, she opened her personal storage, and in the next instant, her heart sank.

The folder was utterly empty. Someone had long since deleted the original files, leaving only a Wetting Conglomerate logo behind.

Amau Sueko felt a chill slowly crawl up her spine, and helplessness gradually took hold of her heart.

Everything had been a trap laid by Jonas...

From the very beginning, he had already anticipated this outcome.

Just what kind of enemy had I provoked...?
