"Miss Amau?"
Seemingly noticing something was wrong with Amau Sueko, Aungus frowned and called out to her.
"No, it's nothing..."
Amau Sueko took a deep breath and said bluntly:
"I'll find a way to resolve the Destiny Organization's internal strife."
Aungus hesitated at her words, but eventually nodded. After a moment, he asked:
"How do you want me to help?"
"Please gather the Destiny Organization's members for me, Mr. Aungus. I'll explain everything to them."
Amau Sueko knew that her only option now was to pledge herself before everyone and clear her name through action.
Aungus looked at the girl before him, uncertain what to do.
"Are you sure?"
Gathering the Destiny Organization's members now would be no different from adding fuel to the fire. If Amau Sueko failed to handle things properly, everything that followed would only become more troublesome.
Amau Sueko merely shook her head and said softly:
"This happened because of me. It's my responsibility to bear."
A sharp glint flashed in her eyes as she said:
"If he thinks this is enough to break me, he's sorely mistaken."
No one would keep stumbling down the same road, nor would anyone remain a loser forever.
She believed that someday, she would make Jonas pay.
After a moment of silence, Aungus said:
"If you fail again this time, I might not be able to protect you."
Another long silence followed. Only after a good while did Amau Sueko speak.
"This time, I won't fail again."
Within the Destiny Organization, after Amau Sueko woke up, Aungus announced two things.
Ian Strala was a traitor, and the video itself was a tool the Wetting Conglomerate had used to sow discord. He also produced evidence of a series of crimes Ian Strala had committed before joining the Destiny Organization, claiming that the Wetting Conglomerate had used this evidence to coerce him.
Although this explanation was quite far-fetched, Aungus's stance left some of the rank-and-file members with no choice but to bury their resentment.
The other matter was how to deal with Amau Sueko.
Although there was now a new explanation for the video, Amau Sueko remained under suspicion.
The only way to clear her completely of the accusation of betrayal was to have her devise another scheme against the Wetting Conglomerate.
The Destiny Organization repaid every slight. Having lost an entire special task force along with a large number of hackers, it could not possibly swallow the insult.
And as the incident's sole survivor, Amau Sueko was undoubtedly the ideal person to devise a plan and retaliate against the Wetting Conglomerate.
Of course, considering that Amau Sueko was still suspected of betraying the Destiny Organization, Aungus also chose someone else to supervise her.
That person was Rick, the intelligence department's [Gecko].
This resolution considerably reduced the opposition within the organization. Before the truth had been uncovered, giving Amau Sueko the chance to prove her innocence was undoubtedly the best choice.
But would things really unfold as they hoped...?
Amau Sueko did not know, and neither did Aungus.
The spider's silk had already wrapped its prey completely in a cocoon, yet the prey still believed it could break free of its bonds and hurt the spider.
Every unknown would lead to an outcome already ordained.
The Wetting Conglomerate.
At that moment, Jonas was sorting through potential candidates for the Weiton Project.
Geniuses in weapons research and development... he knew quite a few, but narrowing them down to those who met the requirements was still somewhat difficult.
For now, Jonas could not guarantee that the candidates he had in mind would be capable of doing the job, so he had to deliberate carefully before making a decision.
Moreover, this operation was inseparable from his subsequent plan to win Miss Yucas over. In other words, before the turning point in the plot arrived-that was, before Miss Yucas had a change of heart-
Jonas had to make proper arrangements for every aspect of the Weiton Project to ensure it proceeded smoothly.
In other words, before long, it would be time for Mr. Jonas to recruit new employees again.
And what Mr. Jonas was doing right now was deciding who those new employees would be.
And... making life difficult for the Destiny Organization.
Although he had been busy recruiting new employees lately, Jonas had not forgotten his original purpose in the slightest.
The Destiny Organization was already in complete chaos.
Amau Sueko's awakening was bound to intensify the Destiny Organization's existing conflicts.
The plan had already entered its final stage. The only possible variable was Amau Sueko herself.
And what he needed to do was wear down Amau Sueko's will completely.
With that thought, Jonas took an envelope from a nearby desk drawer, then placed thirty-five photographs inside.
They were photographs taken while they were alive of all the Destiny Organization members who had died attacking the Wetting Conglomerate.
Once he had finished, he took out a sheet of stationery and wrote something on it.
The letter went into the envelope along with the photographs.
Jonas placed a call and instructed a subordinate to collect a letter from him and mail it to Enlis District.
After ending the call, Jonas pressed his lips together.
-I hope Miss Amau Sueko likes this gift.
The Destiny Organization.
That evening, Amau Sueko received a piece of mail sent by a stranger.
Inside were thirty-five photographs, each capturing its subject's brightest smile while they were still alive.
In stark contrast, Amau Sueko felt no happiness whatsoever upon receiving this gift.
All she felt was profound malice. Guilt and nausea surged within her, making the girl cover her mouth, her face turning pale.
On the backs of the photographs were not their radiant smiles in life, but their gruesome appearances after death.
There was only one sheet of stationery in the envelope. Its message was brief and to the point, yet it made Amau Sueko dig her nails deep into her flesh without even realizing it.
-This is the price you have already paid...
Miss Amau, before you act, ask yourself: is any of this worth it?
Before you continue
