Desserts, delicacies, drinks.
These were rarely the Chamber of Commerce's focus.
But for some people, they were still quite essential.
Sunlight streamed through the window into the cozy room. The normally calm, composed young woman seemed especially happy that day. She slowly savored the enticing dessert before her, her lips curving into a genuine smile.
She glanced at the man beside her, cut off a small piece of cake with her fork, and gently licked the cream from the corner of her mouth. Suddenly, she turned toward him and held out the forkful of cake with uncharacteristic tenderness, motioning for him to open his mouth. He was a little surprised, but her gesture won him over, and he smiled as he opened his mouth to accept the bite.
"Try this. Is it good?"
Seeing this rare, childish side of his secretary, Jonas couldn't help smiling too.
"Since when did you develop a taste for sweets, Miss Eiffel?"
He sounded amused as he asked.
Eiffel couldn't help feeling a little put out at that, and she replied irritably:
"I've always liked desserts... It seems you don't pay much attention to me, Mr. Jonas."
Her words reminded Jonas that she had always been the one looking after him, while he really hadn't paid much attention to her preferences. He felt somewhat guilty.
"Because the last time I saw you eating sweets was when you were with Esnie."
Eiffel froze for a moment, not immediately understanding what he meant.
A moment later, she remembered exactly which occasion with Esnie Jonas was referring to. A blush rose to her cheeks, and she shot him an annoyed glare.
"Why are you looking at me like that? It wasn't that long ago, was it? Have you forgotten what you did so quickly, Miss Eiffel?"
