Someone had once said that Statistics was an art, a profoundly intricate art that, like language, was as deep as the sea.
Like language, Statistics could easily mislead people. And, well, it could just as easily make them laugh.
Just like now.
In the Office, a small chocolate cake and a cup of coffee sat in front of Jonas. The cake was half eaten and sat a little farther from him, while the coffee was almost untouched. Across from him, however, sat two empty little plates and a milk glass.
Across from him, Iris was poking at the cake in front of her with a little fork, bit by bit. She seemed in no hurry to eat, only occasionally stealing a timid glance at Jonas as she went through the motions. When Jonas did not notice, she would take another bite, then continue sneaking contented looks at him.
Although Jonas had told Iris to be more confident and brave, a person's personality was shaped by everything she had experienced. How could it change so easily?
Jonas had once teased Iris, asking whether she would become braver and stronger after he died. But the moment the word "died" left his mouth, Iris looked at him with tear-filled eyes, leaving him unable to finish. To soothe her, he had even spent the entire afternoon playing with her.
"Could you stop playing with that strawberry cake? Seriously, either stare at him outright, finish eating and then stare at him, or let me take over and stare at him. What's with taking a bite, looking at him, taking another bite, and looking at him again?"
