With District 25 pushing it along, news of defeat always spread faster than the wind.
Almost the instant the plan succeeded, the unseen hand behind District 25 began stirring, spreading the news far and wide. The Federation media outlets that had taken their money sank their teeth into fresh meat like bloodthirsty sharks.
Although they could no longer make money writing articles for news agencies inside the Federation, they could still write smear pieces and send them to District 25. That paid just as well-better, in fact! Far better than when they worked in the Federation!
All those reports were held up by Federation censors and could only be published on District 25's networks, but was that really a problem for Jonas?
They could publicize it however they pleased. Hack into the Federation's networks, just as they had last time, and send accounts of the Federation's losses straight to its citizens' inboxes. There was no need to exaggerate, only to make a reasonable case. Add some comparisons with the lives of people in District 25, and discontent would flare up in Federation citizens' hearts.
At that point, if the Federation still wanted to silence its people, it would probably have to gag them physically.
"Who's actually the president of the Federation now? Why haven't we heard a thing from them? Can our Federation really not beat District 25?"
"No, seriously, who's leading the Federation right now? All that earlier trouble hasn't even blown over, and now we're losing on the battlefield too? Is this what they're throwing away our tax money on?"
"What president? Aren't those damned conglomerate families the ones controlling the entire Federation now? Do you honestly expect those conglomerates to have a conscience? Just look at the slums and all those people who had their organs cut
