He was unexpectedly slender, nothing like the tall, imposing super-S-class Alpha one would traditionally imagine.
He wore a black Chinese-style long gown made of the finest brocade, which reflected a sheen like flowing silver in the sunlight.
Subtle patterns embroidered in silver thread adorned both the collar and cuffs, lending him an air of immense luxury.
Even his shoes were custom-made black boots with dragon motifs, their steps ringing crisply against the carved stone tiles.
The outfit he wore alone was already beyond what the Weisheng Family could afford.
Mo Lu watched the man in the cage repeatedly slam against its door. His slightly upturned, peach-blossom eyes narrowed, and his pale, thin lips parted.
"You. What's your name?"
"Young master, he usually can't understand what people say..." Weisheng Yan interjected from the ground.
"Did anyone give you permission to speak?"
Ye Liang kicked Weisheng Yan in the back, sending him sprawling.
Mo Lu did not look down at Weisheng Yan.
His cool eyes remained fixed on the beast in the cage, who still showed no sign of reason.
Gradually, an emerald gleam surfaced in his eyes.
An eerie silence instantly settled over the area around Mo Lu. Prostrate on the ground, Weisheng Yan could not even hear his own breathing.
Under the gaze of those eyes, the man raging and tugging at his chains in the cage abruptly stopped moving.
The golden light in his eyes slowly faded, and a trace of bewilderment flickered through his beastlike gaze.
"You. What's your name?"
Still leaning forward slightly and watching him, Mo Lu asked again.
The man in the cage looked up at the figure before him, as beautiful as a mountain god, and frowned.
After a long moment, he parted his lips slightly. His voice was hoarse and grating. "...My, name, is, Weisheng, Tou."
"Weisheng Tou." Mo Lu softly repeated the name. "A good name. A pity your surname is Weisheng."
Weisheng Yan trembled where he lay on the ground beside them.
This was uncanny!
Every time he saw this beast in the cage, the man was in a frenzy, as though something were wrong with his mind.
They had exhausted every resource at their disposal and even conducted clinical trials tailored to Weisheng Tou's condition, yet nothing could cure his madness.
No medicine could help him.
Yet this young master of the Mo family had calmed Weisheng Tou with nothing more than a glance.
Weisheng Yan had not quite believed in Mo Lu's shamanic healing before, but now he did.
He even felt that the uproar the Lu Family had caused back then had not been entirely unreasonable.
This was uncanny.
"Wash him clean and bring him to my room."
Mo Lu's voice betrayed no emotion. Leaving that cold instruction behind, he turned and headed inside, his jet-black hair sweeping through a sharp arc.
"Yes, young master." Ye Liang bowed respectfully.
A servant asked quietly, "Should we take him to the Hidden Splendor Pool?"
"What do you mean, the Hidden Splendor Pool? That's where the young master bathes!" Ye Liang's brows shot up.
"Take him to the Hidden Splendor Pool."
Mo Lu's voice was cool and clear.
Without looking back, he stepped inside, his elegant, upright figure disappearing into the corridor.
Ye Liang froze.
Several servants bowed their heads and answered, "Yes," before nervously wheeling the cage away.
Weisheng Yan lay on the ground, bewildered. Had his gift been accepted?
Wild joy surged across his face, and he immediately threw caution to the wind, shouting after Mo Lu's vanished figure.
"Young master! Please look favorably upon our Weisheng Family's pharmaceutical business!"
"You'll get your share of benefits." Ye Liang sneered. "Now get out. Stop being an eyesore."
"Yes, yes, I'll get out right away." Weisheng Yan immediately crawled away.
Ye Liang returned to stand guard outside Mo Lu's room, but his thoughts remained on the man in the cage.
As a top-tier Alpha, he felt an instinctive aversion to that man.
Moreover, Ye Liang had always been the only person outside the family allowed close to Mo Lu. Weisheng Tou's arrival left him feeling deeply threatened.
On top of that, the young master had even permitted him to bathe in the Hidden Splendor Pool.
The Hidden Splendor Pool was a natural hot spring in the mountains.
The young master had personally inscribed its name, drawing it from the verse, "Light drifts over the wilds, the heavens stretch afar, nature's splendor lies secluded."
What right did that beggar in the cage, who clearly had something wrong with his head, have to catch the young master's eye?
He wasn't fit to work alongside him or stay by the young master's side, either!
The expression on Ye Liang's handsome, resolute face grew colder, and a fierce fighting spirit flared within him.
After returning to his room, Mo Lu casually lit a stick of sandalwood incense, then reclined on the daybed beside the window and slowly closed his eyes.
A rich scent, like ancient wood, spread through the room, stilling the air.
Blue-white smoke rose in slender wisps through the tranquil air.
Mo Lu's heart, stirred moments earlier by the Alpha's pheromones, gradually settled as well.
He had never encountered anything like what had just happened.
Every Alpha allowed near him was a powerful, top-tier Alpha.
Ye Liang, for instance, had served as his bodyguard and subordinate ever since differentiating into an A-class Alpha.
Ye Liang's pheromones smelled of mint. Once, during a rut, he had gone berserk everywhere, filling the entire Lan Mountain Residence with the scent of mint, yet Mo Lu had never reacted so strongly.
He had even coldly punished him afterward, entirely unaffected.
But the Alpha in the cage seemed intent on forcibly dragging him in, pulling him under into strong liquor.
Mo Lu knew that only two people with an extremely high pheromone compatibility could provoke such a powerful reaction.
Half reclining against the soft cushions, he let out a long breath.
He was an Alpha.
He could only be an Alpha.
Mo Lu repeated this to himself inwardly, a trace of ruthlessness flashing across his cold, handsome face.
"Young Master Mo Lu! Young Master Mo Lu! That Alpha has gone berserk again!"
A servant's panicked cries suddenly rang out from outside.
Standing outside, Ye Liang stopped the servant at once, his gaze fierce. "What's the fuss? If he's gone berserk, don't you know to chain him up?"
"I... we were bathing him... We thought Young Master Mo Lu had already cured him. He was fine at first, but now he's suddenly gone berserk! Some Omegas have already lost their minds, and he bit through someone's neck!"
The servant's face was filled with terror, but the professional discipline instilled by the Mo family still allowed him to explain the situation quickly.
Bit through someone's neck?
Ye Liang's expression sharpened.
Not every Alpha possessed that kind of ability.
To bite through a neck with bare teeth-this was no Alpha. This was a beast.
Ye Liang immediately turned and bowed respectfully toward the room. "Young master, I'll go take a look at once."
"You can't handle him."
Mo Lu slowly opened the door. His peach-blossom eyes, devoid of any coy allure, rested on Ye Liang.
"Young master!" Ye Liang sounded anxious.
Looking into Ye Liang's eyes, Mo Lu slowly repeated himself.
"You can't handle him. Wait here. Have everyone leave the bathing room. Without my permission, no one is to set a single foot inside!"
