She had always stayed by her side. Whenever Shi Miao turned around, she would be there behind her, waiting.
But... Shi Miao had never thought to turn around.
They had both been forced into the game. With the understanding built over many years and their exceptional abilities, their journey had gone fairly smoothly. Later, they met their captain and Brother Jiang, and the four formed a team, making clearing stages even easier.
It wasn't as though they had never faced danger, or never had their lives hanging by a thread. Shi Miao would rush out to take a blade for her and willingly die to protect her. The one thing she would never do was fall in love with her.
White light filled her vision. Gao Ruxue blinked and saw Wu You beside her, staring off into space in boredom.
"Hey, finished reliving your memory?"
Gao Ruxue nodded and introduced herself again. "Hello, my name is Gao Ruxue."
Judging by her expression, that memory hadn't been a pleasant one.
Wu You patted her shoulder without bringing it up.
Gao Ruxue shook her head to show she was fine, then looked at the pile of fragments on the ground and asked, "Are none of these memories yours?"
"One is." Wu You pointed to the fragment labeled [I Hate Water]. "That one's mine, but I already picked it up a couple of days ago. If touching a memory means reliving what happened all over again, I'd rather not touch it."
Wu You frowned as she spoke. "It wasn't exactly a good memory."
Gao Ruxue nodded. If it wasn't a good memory, there was no need to bring it up.
"I think finding the other players matters more right now than following the guards to look for fragments," Wu You said.
"Hm? Why?"
