Lu Rui glanced at Ye Chu, then at Pei Yanchuan. "What are you two scheming now?"
Before either of them could answer, Wu You shook her head excitedly. "Thinking about how to kill those ghostly things, of course! Why don't we kill that damned PE Teacher right now?"
Lu Rui put a hand on her head and ruffled her hair. "I already told you, we don't know how strong the teachers are. Just because we can take down the dorm supervisor doesn't mean we can take down a teacher." She glanced at the others as she spoke. "That goes for all of you. Don't rush in before you know how strong your opponent is."
Pei Yanchuan immediately nodded, smiling obediently. "Got it, big sis Lu Rui."
The next moment, Wu You said, "Pei Xiaohu, if big sis Lu Rui finds out we're doing this, won't she scold us to death?" Despite her worried words, her eyes brimmed with eagerness.
Walking ahead of her, Pei Yanchuan waved a hand dismissively. "Relax. One look at this PE Teacher and you can tell he's weak. The two of us can definitely kick his ass!"
They had told their older companions they were going out to buy water, but had actually slipped over to the opposite side of the track while no one was paying attention, hoping to test how strong this monster was.
The two stared straight at the PE Teacher like wolves stalking their prey.
"But wouldn't turning into wolves in front of all these people be a bad idea?" Wu You glanced back at their older companions, who were still slacking off behind the trees, and spoke with some concern.
Pei Yanchuan frowned slightly. "Yeah, probably. Should we lure the PE Teacher away, then? Or let him off for today?"
Wu You shook her head. "We're already here. We won't kill him yet, just test the waters." Normally, having to run even eight hundred meters would make her curse the PE Teacher to hell and back, let alone five kilometers.
No self-respecting person would let this grudge go unavenged.
Bound by the rules, they couldn't go too far with the PE Teacher, but making him suffer a little was still an option.
[What's this? The fierce wolf youngest-member duo?]
[Sure enough, the younger ones are all reckless.]

Ye Chu glanced at his watch. Fifteen minutes had passed, and Pei Yanchuan and Wu You still hadn't returned.
A strange suspicion crept into Ye Chu's mind. Had those two kids really gone to buy water?
"Why aren't Pei Xiaohu and Little Wolf Wu back yet?" Su Fengzi had also noticed. He stood up and rubbed the back of his neck.
Lu Rui stood up as well. "Why are you giving them random nicknames again? Tigers, wolves, what's next?"
Su Fengzi surveyed the track. A dozen or so students were still running mechanically, their faces pale and ashen. They were all this monster's minions, while the other normal students had disappeared somewhere to slack off.
"What can I do? If they're both little wolves, I can't tell them apart, so Xiao Pei has to be the little tiger." Su Fengzi's explanation made no sense whatsoever. "Huh? Is the PE Teacher gone too?"
Lu Rui turned toward the track. "Where did those two go?" Then she looked around again. "Huh? Where did Ye Chu go now?"
Ye Chu was walking toward the other end of the track under the blazing sun. He had known those two kids couldn't possibly behave themselves. Buying water was just an excuse. They might well have lured the PE Teacher off somewhere.
Wait, why does putting it that way make us sound like the villains?
Ye Chu kept walking. Sure enough, in a corner on the other side of the track, he found black and white wolf fur, along with a few chunks of bloody flesh.
Ye Chu: ...Were they really that savage?
He took a few steps farther in and saw two wolves, one large and one small, sitting side by side. The moment the black wolf saw Ye Chu approaching, he lunged at him.
Ye Chu was already used to this sort of thing. Out of habit, he took two steps back to dodge the black wolf's pounce. Then he grabbed his fur and forced his head down, reaching out with his other hand to pet him in reassurance.
The little white wolf ran over to Ye Chu's legs and rubbed against them. Ye Chu crouched down and picked her up, stroking the fur on her back as he looked down and said, "I knew you two wouldn't behave."
The little white wolf rolled over in his arms, making rumbling sounds in her throat. Meanwhile, the black wolf crouched low and nudged Ye Chu with his head, as though complaining that he wasn't getting any petting.
"So what did you do to the PE Teacher?"
The instant Ye Chu asked, both wolves went still. Puzzled, Ye Chu took another two steps forward and discovered the PE Teacher buried alive in a pit. From the look of him, he had been unconscious for a while.
The rules forbade killing teachers. Ye Chu was certain that without that rule, these two wolf cubs would have killed the monster on the spot.
"Did either of you get hurt?"
The little white wolf obediently shook her head in his arms, but the black wolf whined and lay down on the ground, as though all his energy had suddenly drained away.
"What's wrong?" Ye Chu put Wu You down and approached Pei Yanchuan worriedly, already taking out the antidote bottle with one hand. "Where are you hurt?"
Freshly set down, Wu You stared speechlessly at Pei Yanchuan, rolling her eyes so hard they almost disappeared into the sky. Go on, keep acting. I'll just stand here and watch.
Pei Yanchuan pushed his head into Ye Chu's arms. Ye Chu stumbled back two steps and landed on the ground, cradling that enormous wolf head. Even after falling, he wasn't angry and kept asking the same question. "Where are you hurt?"
The big wolf made rumbling sounds, but Ye Chu didn't understand wolf language and had no idea what he meant. All he could do was stroke Pei Yanchuan's head over and over, a little helplessly, and soothe him in a soft voice. "A little petting will make the pain go away."
At some point, Su Fengzi and Lu Rui had also arrived on this side of the track. One glance at the two wolf cubs, followed by the unconscious PE Teacher buried in the pit, told them exactly what had happened during those fifteen minutes of "buying water."
Su Fengzi raised an eyebrow at Pei Yanchuan, who was lying in Ye Chu's arms.
This guy just loved wagging his tail at Ye Chu.
When their time was up, the two wolves returned to human form and, unsurprisingly, had their ears grabbed by Lu Rui as she gave them a thorough scolding.
"I told you not to rush in! Why won't you listen?! Do you have to get hurt before you learn your lesson?!"
Wu You and Pei Yanchuan kept their heads bowed and stared at their toes, not daring to speak for fear of angering the group's matriarch again and earning another scolding. Tear stains still lingered at the corners of Wu You's eyes. During the fight, her tears had started streaming down uncontrollably again.
Pei Yanchuan muttered under his breath, "But we didn't get hurt..."
"You've got the nerve to say that?" Lu Rui was furious. "What if you had gotten hurt? Wu You had turned into a wolf too, and the three of us weren't there with you. With a monster right there, tell me what you would have done..."
Pei Yanchuan immediately shut his mouth and turned his aggrieved puppy-dog eyes toward Ye Chu. Ye Chu merely shrugged, showing that he couldn't help. What they had done really was too risky, and Lu Rui wasn't wrong.
