Pei Yanchuan had only just gotten up when Ye Chu woke right after him, his voice still a little hoarse from sleep. "Morning, Xiao Pei."
Out of habit, he reached for the phone beside his pillow as soon as he woke. When he opened it, he found an unread text received three minutes earlier:
[Hello, players: four checkpoints have now been set up in this city. Players must use the map to reach them on their own and complete the corresponding games. Success will earn you rewards; failure will result in punishment. Players must complete all four games before 7:00 p.m. tonight. Otherwise, an alarm will automatically sound from your bodies, attracting Person-Eaters and triggering a citywide hunt.]
Another text arrived immediately afterward, containing a city map with four locations marked in red. Those were presumably the checkpoints.
Ye Chu frowned. It was seven in the morning, leaving twelve hours until seven that evening. They had to visit all four locations and complete the tasks within that time, all while avoiding Hunters.
Yikes. This seems a little difficult.
Pei Yanchuan had finished reading the texts too, and his expression was no better.
Wu You woke and rubbed her eyes. Seeing the grave expressions on Ye Chu's and Pei Yanchuan's faces, she asked in confusion, "What happened?"
Ye Chu pointed at her phone. Wu You opened it and immediately spotted the two unread texts.
She sprang out of bed and rushed outside. Ye Chu and Pei Yanchuan thought she was already preparing to head for a checkpoint, only to hear her launch into a furious tirade. "What the ***! Are you out of your minds? Four checkpoints, in the four fucking corners of the city! If you want my ass dead, just say so! Fuck this shit!"
Ye Chu
