After returning to the Rest House, Ye Chu first went to check on Su Fengzi. Everyone knew that, as players, they were better off not projecting their personal feelings onto Instance NPCs, but how many could actually manage that?

Ye Chu himself had once lost control of his emotions over Xiao Chuan's death.

Ye Chu pushed open the door and went downstairs. Su Fengzi was sitting on the couch, peeling an orange. His hair hung loose, hiding his face and making his expression impossible to read.

Ye Chu sat beside him and was just about to offer a few words of comfort when Su Fengzi said, "I'm fine."

Su Fengzi swept his hair back. "It hurts, sure. Just give me a little time to get over it."

Su Fengzi looked at him in mild surprise. "You believe in predestination?"

Ye Chu raised an eyebrow, neither confirming nor denying it.

Su Fengzi sighed with a smile. "No one can escape fate."

Ye Chu smiled too, saying nothing.

Pei Yanchuan came bounding down the stairs and sat beside Ye Chu. Sensing that something was off between the two, he changed the subject with a joke.
