Pewter City's Fossil Museum.
Deep inside the museum was an Evolutionary Gallery,
which vividly displayed the changes in Pokémon forms and environments from ancient times to the present through panoramic animations and ecological dioramas.
Kiawe felt his blood surge as he watched a scene of an ancient Gyarados battling a Kabutops on a mural.
Mallow, meanwhile, was fascinated by the plants in the ancient environments. "Ancient Berries looked so different from the ones we have now."
Li Wei explained, "Environments and Pokémon evolved together. Whether in ancient times or today, life has always strived to adapt to its surroundings and find a way to survive."
"Understanding the past can help us better understand the present, and even attempt to guide Pokémon into regaining certain ancient forms, as Professor Rowan has done in his research."
Naturally, Li Wei was referring to Hisui Goodra and the Ursaluna discovered some time ago.
At the end of the museum was a small interactive area where visitors could touch replicas of common fossils and use tools to simulate the fossil excavation process.
Kiawe and Sophocles became absorbed in it,
while Ash and Pikachu also curiously tried using brushes to clean the model fossils beneath the rock layers.
This visit not only introduced them to all sorts of marvelous fossils, but, through Li Wei's and Professor Kukui's explanations,
also helped them understand the scientific significance behind fossils and the course of life's evolution.
Their awe and curiosity toward the ancient world also filled them with greater enthusiasm and imagination for the hands-on excavation awaiting them in Grand Sableye Canyon.
"Next, we're heading to Grand Sableye Canyon. Let's experience the fun of digging up fossils ourselves!"
Professor Kukui announced the next stop on their itinerary.
"Yeah!!!"
"Hehe, I've dug for fossils three times already!"
