Pallet Town had originally been called Pure White Town.
It had been renamed Pallet Town to commemorate Professor Oak's great-great-grandfather, Oak Masara.
Though the reason for honoring him was a little absurd...
It was to commemorate Oak Masara's impressive achievement of ranking 931st out of ten thousand Trainers.
And so, it had been renamed Pallet Town.
But perhaps the new name had brought it good fortune.
Later, Pallet Town became known as the hometown of Champions.
