Upside-Down Mental Hospital
Liang Yu encounters Shen Ru on the Fifth Floor and recognizes him from the Leons’ Tea Party livestream. She decides to impersonate an NPC to extract information from him. After escorting his group into a ward, she prepares to investigate the Fourth Floor, reasoning that he has either cleared its dangers or demonstrated that the lower floors are manageable 49.
Shen Ru chooses to accompany her downstairs because her Fifth-Floor Name Badge grants greater authority than a Level 3 badge. He doubts that his own badge would protect him after antagonizing the NPCs there, making Liang Yu’s presence important to his plan 50.
The Fourth Floor proves far more dangerous than Liang Yu expected. Shen Ru compares their observations of its creatures, including the pythons she encountered and the absence of living blue-ringed octopuses. She becomes increasingly desperate while waiting for him to work out an answer, then repeatedly checks that the grotesque creatures have truly disappeared after the space transforms 51 52.
