Under the stark white lights, Che Quan sat at ease in a chair beside the operating table, propping his chin on one hand as he glanced over lazily.
The handsome young doctor standing beside him was none other than Jiang Cong.
His spotless white coat and refined, thin gold-rimmed glasses only enhanced Jiang Cong's elegant, scholarly air.
Though the sight set Quan Qin's heart fluttering and made her wish she could whip out a camera and take pictures to her heart's content, it was hardly the "intimate closeness" she had imagined.

They had no idea that, just minutes before they entered, Che Quan and Jiang Cong had been in entirely different positions.

The Treatment Room was pitch-black.
After being brought inside, Che Quan surveyed his surroundings, then leisurely examined the instruments laid out on the metal trolley beside the operating table.
Then, with a faint, ambiguous smile, he asked Jiang Cong, "How are you going to treat me, Doctor Jiang?"
He placed particular emphasis on the last two words.
Che Quan had intended it as a threat, but little did he know that hearing it only made Jiang Cong's nerves tighten and his breathing unconsciously grow heavier.
Jiang Cong kept his expression composed, his tone calm and restrained. "Lie down."
Che Quan frowned. "Do I have to?"
"Yes. To complete the task."
Che Quan still had little desire to cooperate, but after Jiang Cong whispered in his ear, "Afterward, you can drink your fill, all right?" he considered it.
To avoid losing Jiang Cong as his long-term blood supply, he could make a small sacrifice.
But, "You already pledged your blood to me as part of our agreement. Now you need to offer me something else."
