Background / History
Royal upbringing and exile
Che Quan grew up believing he would become crown prince. His father demanded relentless training and punished his mistakes harshly, while indulging a frail younger son born to a favored consort. Che Quan accepted this unequal treatment because he believed the responsibility of inheriting the throne justified it 103.
The king’s actual plan was to let Che Quan develop exceptional strength, then drain his blood and replace the younger prince’s blood with it. This would transfer Che Quan’s hard-earned talents and abilities to the favored child without regard for whether Che Quan survived 137.
After being banished, Che Quan lived alone in an Old Castle surrounded by thorns and roses. His isolation lasted so long that he nearly forgot how to speak. A masked, silver-haired half-vampire was eventually brought to serve as his sole attendant; the guards forbade Che Quan from removing the boy’s mask 78.
Earlier connection with Jiang Cong
Recovered memories suggest Che Quan first encountered Jiang Cong as a ragged child who stumbled into his carriage during heavy snowfall. The masked attendant at the castle was also Jiang Cong. When the attendant later refused an order to remove his mask, Che Quan did not force him 53 91.
Lady Dess ordered two guards to kill the sleeping Che Quan with Pure Silver Crosses and collect his blood. An unseen force instead compelled the guards to return to their posts and kill themselves. Jiang Cong subsequently returned bloodied and unmasked, making him appear responsible for the deaths 101 102 136.
Che Quan refused the court’s demands that he kill Jiang Cong and return to his father. When Dess abandoned negotiation and summoned soldiers against them both, he drove the attackers back without suffering a scratch. Jiang Cong’s sudden use of overwhelming black-mist power shocked even him 102 137 138.
Slumber and recovered memories
Jiang Cong negotiated with Chaos, a sealed black mist, to gather souls under rules he established in exchange for help awakening Che Quan. He designed the escape-game instances around dark events from reality; players who failed were consumed by Chaos. Che Quan’s awakening was the central purpose of the arrangement 141.
During his time as a player, Che Quan gradually recovered memories through dreams, hypnosis, and drinking Jiang Cong’s blood. These revelations exposed both his father’s betrayal and Jiang Cong’s role as the games’ designer 53 78 101 136 137 141.
After learning the truth, Che Quan confronted Jiang Cong about the deliberately imposed skin-hunger buff and sickly character setting. He refused to treat devotion as an automatic excuse for harm, but indicated that Jiang Cong did not have to leave him. He also approved of Jiang Cong sparing some vampires while making all surviving vampires players 141.
Appearance
Che Quan has an exceptionally beautiful, youthful appearance, repeatedly compared to an icy red lotus 18.
- Hair and complexion: Black hair and pale white skin; artificial sunlight makes his complexion appear almost translucent 52 101.
- Eyes: Crimson or red-lotus-like eyes, sometimes flecked with gold. In his human appearance, his pupils can become black before flashing red when his power or anger rises 3 22 34.
- Fangs: Snow-white vampire fangs that retract when he returns to his usual appearance 3 6.
- Build and bearing: Slender, with unhurried movements and a noble, elegant presence. His Murder Apartment setting makes him genuinely frail as well as sickly-looking 36 52.
- Voice: Clear and languid, carrying arrogance and a trace of impatient listlessness 5.
Personality
Che Quan is aloof, proud, and intensely self-directed. He initially rejects cooperation with frightened human players and regards the instances as nuisances he could solve by crushing their monsters. He blocks livestream comments rather than seeking help from spectators and remains largely indifferent to his growing fame 1 2 5 78.
His impatience does not prevent careful reasoning. He notices wording differences, facial changes, and contradictions, usually keeping his conclusions to himself until they become useful. He treats information as something to bargain with and readily uses bluffing, intimidation, or emotional pressure 18 38 46 89.
He does not consider himself bound by human morality and initially attacks Jiang Cong with lethal intent even immediately after receiving help. Against abusive authorities, he favors turning their own methods against them 26 74 95 96.
His generosity and restraint are selective rather than openly sentimental. He gives teammates expensive Soul Crystals without demanding repayment, approves of Meng Le’s determination to rescue her friends, and shields Chen Mengxue from witnessing further violence. With Jiang Cong, his hostility gradually gives way to trust, embarrassment, and guarded affection 77 98 125 133 141 149.
Abilities & Skills
Pureblood Vampire Physiology
His pureblood nature provides supernatural senses, retractable fangs, and claws capable of inflicting deep wounds 6 22.
- Sees clearly enough in darkness to examine Jiang Cong’s appearance on the unlit third floor 6.
- Uses his acute sense of smell to recognize Jiang Cong and reject otherwise luxurious accommodation 34.
- Transforms ordinary-looking nails into sharp weapons capable of cutting deeply enough to expose bone 22.
- Drinks blood through his fangs and finds Jiang Cong’s blood especially appealing 49 50.
Supernatural Strength and Speed
Che Quan’s combat ability greatly exceeds what his youthful or frail appearance suggests.
- Disarms Jiang Cong, pins him down, and retrieves a falling dagger with lightning speed 39.
- Defeats Fu Na by dodging her charge and kicking her down a staircase 48.
- Tears apart the Weirdo Ghost and cuts a giant aquatic monster in half with his bare hands 52 64.
- Breaks a records-room lock and destroys a descending blade apparatus to rescue Cheng Kong 88.
- Pulverizes rows of Serpent Idols with a single sweep of his hand 129.
Anti-Ghost Blood and Aura
His pale-gold blood carries a pureblood vampire property capable of repelling ghosts 6.
- A single drop creates an expanding barrier that drives back the third-floor boss in Haunting 6.
- Ghosts in Murder Apartment clear a path rather than risk approaching him 52.
- His vampire aura frightens invisible spirits out of the hospital elevator 87 88.
- Blood-red flames ignite the fingertips of two attacking Wraiths and force them to retreat 60.
- Ghost Shadow serves him as a subordinate and retrieves an item at his request 14.
Mental Power and Supernatural Interference
Che Quan can exert power beyond direct physical attacks.
- An angry mental-power surge violently assaults the instance itself, prompting emergency system warnings 22.
- A piercing scream breaks Zhang Yun’s hypnotic command over Meng Le and Ju Lei 127.
- Enables Chen Mengxue’s ghost to hold her mother’s skull despite her inability to touch it normally 98.
- Obscures Mengxue’s vision to keep her from witnessing Kang Cheng’s punishment 98.
Lie Detection
Che Quan can determine whether someone is lying by studying minute changes in their expression.
- Confirms that Wen Ping’s account of the nighttime disturbance is truthful 40.
- In Murder Apartment, the ability is restricted to one deliberate activation per day and does not work automatically 40.
Investigation and Strategy
He combines close observation with a willingness to challenge apparent rules and authority.
- Bluffs Teacher Chang with a nonexistent recording after learning about Ying Jiajia from Qiao Qiao’s diary 18.
- Identifies Fu Na through marked pickup records and exposes the mechanism behind her staged axe attack 41 48.
- Detects Cheng Kong’s possession through changes in address and behavior 89.
- Recognizes the hospital patients as victims and directs retaliation against the families and staff who imprisoned them 96.
- Identifies the NPC impersonating Ning Dantong through an unfamiliar form of address and a fleeting expression of pleasure 149.
Memory Access Through Blood
Drinking Jiang Cong’s blood allows Che Quan to read memories of their shared past.
- Witnesses the guards’ attempted assassination and the force that compelled their deaths 136.
- Sees Jiang Cong’s negotiations with a powerful darkness and recalls his father’s blood-transfer scheme 137.
- These memories supplement the fragments recovered through dreams and Jiang Cong’s hypnosis 53 78 101.
Limitations and Vulnerabilities
- Skin hunger syndrome: Flare-ups cause overheating, trembling, weakness, poor concentration, and an intense need for physical contact. Jiang Cong’s touch relieves the symptoms 6 7 14.
- Buff amplification: The early instance amplifies the syndrome by 300%; a later warning maintains it at 100% intensity 7 17.
- Sickly character setting: In Murder Apartment, using his vampire abilities severely exhausts his weakened body 36 48.
- Pure Silver Crosses: These can permanently destroy a vampire’s soul. Stronger pureblood vampires have less resistance to them, despite their otherwise enduring bodies 101 102.
- Sunlight: He dislikes sunlight and seeks shelter from it; the supplied passages do not establish it as lethal 101.
