Xie De entered the Hope Factory instance as 39, survived its ghosts and solved its mysteries with help from 455 and Wei Yanchi. After escaping, he found Wei Yunmo, killed a laboratory agent, and began drawing others into the danger surrounding him.

• Xie De met system 455, learned he was an unnamed character marked for death by Wei Yanchi, and entered the Hope Factory instance under the name 39.
• Xie De teamed up with Beiwei and Wei Yanchi, uncovered the factory boss’s crimes, and survived the ghosts while killing Fang Jueshan and Li Luohan.
• Xie De and the other players answered the instance’s questions about the factory workers, but Old Eugene died after giving a wrong answer.
• Xie De found Ma Hui’s letters and dagger, then Wei Yanchi explained how jealousy and a kitchen fight had caused the factory fire, and Xie De escaped through a window and cleared the instance.
• After recovering at home, Xie De found Wei Yunmo in the mountains and took him to a safe house despite 455’s warning that he was the villain.
• Xie De tracked down and killed laboratory agent Qi Yuan, then took shelter with Wei Yanchi, who had sensed a violent death nearby.
• When 455’s main unit failed from absorbing too much electricity, Xie De recovered under Wei Yanchi’s care and later recruited Huang Zhuowang after the computer expert discovered Xie De’s surveillance activity.

Xie De and Wei Yanchi survived a series of movie-based dreams, uncovered Zhang Qiuyue’s story, and cleared the Instance. Back in the real world, Xie De accepted TC730’s offer to punish people connected to Instances in exchange for rewards.

• Wei Yanchi exorcised the rat spirit haunting Zhu Wanfu’s family, while Xie De dealt with Wei Yunmo killing a burglar and the insects disposing of the body.
• Xie De entered a cinema Instance with Wei Yanchi, Beiwei, and Yue Xiamo, where players were sent into different films and Xie De faced Pearl’s murderous world.
• After escaping Pearl’s film, Xie De and Wei Yanchi entered a dream based on Romeo and Juliet and confronted Hu Songlin in the Lost Domain.
• Xie De shot Hu Songlin, collapsing the dream, then joined Wei Yanchi and Beiwei in Pearl’s film as Pearl attacked them and Juliet died.
• Wei Yanchi and Hu Songlin confronted Zhang Qiuyue’s dream and helped her realize she was dead, earning the group a perfect clear with five survivors.
• Back home, Xie De met TC730, who offered him a partnership to punish people responsible for Instances, and Xie De agreed in exchange for choosing rewards.
• TC730 gave Xie De an all-black off-road vehicle, a gun, and ammunition, and Xie De told 455 to locate a target.

Xie De fled the Laboratory, delivered Wei Yunmo to safety, and killed Boss Li before entering the Monastery instance. There, he navigated its violent orphanage and learned that Wei Yanchi and Zeng Huan remembered earlier loops, then left for the hospital to investigate its dangers.

• Xie De escaped the Laboratory’s attack with Wei Yunmo, then took him to the Instance Main System’s auxiliary space and left him with Pearl and the researchers.
• Xie De poisoned Mr. Li, learned that the first attempt had failed, and shot Boss Li from a rooftop before Wei Yanchi confessed his feelings at the opera.
• Xie De arrived at the Monastery instance with fourteen other players, where the system announced that the instance would restart every fourteen days until one player survived.
• Xie De took charge of the ghost children by enforcing classroom rules with his gun, while Mo Jingchun was killed by the Red-Haired Man and Ying Lin and Wang Peng faced threats from the orphans.
• Xie De helped Nixon punish the children after they framed him for stealing the money pouch, and Nixon told him the raven was called the Black Death and was associated with the Plague Doctors.
• Wei Yanchi revealed that he remembered the first loop, while Zeng Huan claimed to be a Regressor and said Wei Yanchi had sent her back to save the players and her boyfriend, Zhao Junhao.
• Xie De let Wei Yanchi into his room, shot a flayed ghost, and learned that Zeng Huan had given Zhao Junhao the zinc sheets, and Beiwei later confirmed that Wei Yanchi was also a Regressor.
• Xie De took the Plague Doctor’s unconscious crow to the hospital, where he met the doctor, who introduced himself as Anbers.

After clearing the Monastery, Xie De returned to reality and pursued a mission tied to the Laboratory, the Club, and a mysterious Antarctic discovery. He reached the Club’s Antarctic base, then left aboard a returning ship with Wei Yanchi and Zhang Ninde.

• Xie De cleared the Monastery with Wei Yanchi’s help, returned to reality, and received money, armor, and a medical card from the Instance System.
• Xie De met Huang Zhuowang and Beiwei, learned that their mission was to assassinate Pope Linan Ubik, and sent them to help crack a bank password while he pursued the Laboratory’s Antarctic operation.
• Hu Songlin captured Wei Yanchi, but Wei Yanchi tricked him onto an iceberg and escaped aboard Zhang Ninde’s icebreaker.
• Xie De fought Orion in a sniper duel, wounded him, and escaped before Beiwei treated Xie De’s injuries and she and Huang Zhuowang left for E Country.
• Xie De boarded the Club’s icebreaker using Hu Songlin’s access, and Hu Songlin recognized him as Mr. 39 and told him that the Illuminati had found an angel’s corpse in Antarctica.
• Xie De settled at the Antarctic base while Hu Songlin led an expedition beneath the aurora, then boarded a returning ship and confronted Zhang Ninde.
• Wei Yanchi recognized Xie De as Mr. 39, and Zhang Ninde introduced himself as Wei Yanchi’s senior fellow apprentice as the ship carried them away from the base.
