Jiang Nannan grew up in poverty in a small border town of the Heaven Dou Empire. When her mother suffered from a persistent illness, she searched for medical help until she met Gu Yunxiao, who was traveling toward the Far North. He gave her a spiritual herb that saved her mother’s life, strengthened her constitution, and improved her immunity 50.

Gu Yunxiao subsequently made occasional detours to visit the family and eat her mother’s cooking. With medical expenses reduced, Nannan could save enough money to enter Shrek Academy and sometimes purchase nourishing supplements for her mother. Their repeated meetings also turned her gratitude toward Gu Yunxiao into romantic affection 50.
