Background / History

Childhood and the Three Great Families’ Banquet

Xian Di trained diligently from childhood and regarded himself as the strongest talent of his generation within the Kamo Clan. By his introduction at the Three Great Families’ banquet, he had awakened Blood Manipulation and could exorcise cursed spirits independently 25 26.

At the banquet, he approached Zhiyan courteously and revealed that he knew about Jujutsu Headquarters’ attempt to claim Shoko Ieiri. After learning that Shoko was Zhiyan’s fiancée, he accepted the explanation without pressing for further details 25.

His subsequent spar with Zhiyan challenged his confidence. Despite using physical enhancement and ranged blood attacks, he lost after Zhiyan reproduced Piercing Blood’s underlying principles with water. Zhiyan’s sincere praise helped turn the defeat into mutual respect. Watching Zhiyan fight Gojo afterward clarified the gap between their abilities, but Xian Di remained determined to improve 26 27 28.

Tokyo Jujutsu High

Seven years later, Xian Di chose Tokyo Jujutsu High with Zhiyan and Gojo to gain distance from Headquarters’ close scrutiny in Kyoto. Their first-year class consisted of Xian Di, Zhiyan, Gojo, Geto, Shoko, and Wana Zenin; Xian Di sat beside Geto 29 32.

His years of training paid off during an early school spar, when he defeated Zhiyan through sustained pressure and a decisive leg sweep. Their exchange ended amicably, with Xian Di crediting practice rather than innate superiority 33.

He also helped keep the group safe outside combat. When a drunken Gojo nearly completed Blue’s incantation, Xian Di restrained his arms while Zhiyan covered his mouth. The two stayed awake all night to prevent another attempt 39 40.

Goodwill Event

During Wana’s match against Shinya Zenin, Xian Di warned that repeated easy victories had sheltered their group from the realities of dangerous combat. He challenged Gojo’s assumption that competition rules would prevent serious injury 50.

In the fifth individual match, he faced Kyoto first-year Yuko Kurokawa. Her Domain Expansion, Checkmate, replaced direct combat with chess and gave her twice as much thinking time per move. Xian Di defended patiently, exploited her overextended pieces, and forced her resignation. After winning, he helped her stand and offered to teach her chess, beginning a playful rivalry that drew immediate teasing from his friends 57 58 59.

For the team competition, he proposed intercepting Kyoto at its starting point and using Geto’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation to secure the available spirits. He later joined Zhiyan and Gojo in pursuing Kyoto’s divided forces after their apparent targets proved to be cursed-energy-emitting wooden decoys 62 65.

Kangiten and the Headquarters Confrontation

While handling clan documents with Zhiyan, Xian Di learned that a Zenin property and two investigating teams had disappeared. He suggested bringing Gojo and Geto rather than allowing Zhiyan to investigate alone. At the site, his cursed-energy reinforcement protected him from serious injury when the special-grade spirit Kangiten hurled the group into nearby buildings 71.

During their counterattack, he circled behind Kangiten and fired six blood arrows at its vital points. The spirit redirected them, but the layered plan continued with Zhiyan’s overhead Black Flash and Geto’s capture of the incapacitated curse 72.

Later, Yuko informed him that Headquarters had taken Yaga and Shoko away. Rather than relying on Kamo connections to negotiate, Xian Di immediately gathered his allies to storm Headquarters. He apologized to Yuko for drawing her into the confrontation, but remained committed to the group’s decision 98.

Recognition and Adult Plans

A year after the Star Plasma Vessel Incident, Xian Di received Special Grade certification and was revealed to have learned Reverse Cursed Technique through a near-death experience 101.

As his friends considered teaching and independent mission work, he expected to continue managing clan and political affairs alongside Zhiyan. He also announced that he anticipated becoming engaged soon to someone from Kyoto Jujutsu High; the announcement does not explicitly name that person 108.

Appearance

Xian Di is introduced with handsome features and a composed expression, wearing a dark kimono at the Three Great Families’ banquet 25.

  • School attire: A neatly maintained uniform; even after escaping Checkmate, his clothing and hair remain immaculate 58.
  • Clan-business attire: A dark gray kimono beneath a black haori 71.
  • Visible embarrassment: His ears redden when friends draw attention to his closeness with Yuko 73 98.

Personality

Xian Di is reserved, observant, and usually self-possessed. He notices Zhiyan’s concealed tension and offers practical support without demanding an explanation. His dry humor often takes the form of quietly enjoying his friends’ antics or withholding information until someone asks 28 32 71.

His ambition survives disappointment. Although his childhood defeat initially shakes his belief in his own genius, he eventually acknowledges that Zhiyan and Gojo are stronger without treating them as enemies. He values disciplined training and attributes his later martial-arts victory to having practiced more 26 28 33.

Beneath his restraint, he enjoys teasing and can be easily provoked when the subject becomes personal. Gojo’s insinuations about Yuko lead him to threaten a fight, while he readily joins the others in mocking Gojo’s romantic awkwardness and public embarrassment 58 59 106 119.

His consideration does not make him naïve. He kindly offers an exhausted-looking Yuko the opportunity to surrender, yet also warns his friends that innocence and faith in rules can become liabilities in actual combat 50 57.

Abilities & Skills

Blood Manipulation

Xian Di uses Blood Manipulation for physical enhancement, ranged offense, and restraint 26 35.

  • Flowing Red Scale: Greatly increases his physical capabilities. During his childhood spar, prolonged use leaves him breathless and unable to sustain the enhancement much longer 26.
  • Blood Draw: Suspends stones in a bloody glow and launches them as projectiles, allowing him to pressure an opponent from a distance 26.
  • Piercing Blood: Compresses and propels blood into fast, precisely aimed arrows 26.
  • Piercing Blood: Rapid Fire: Produces successive arrows to maintain pressure and restrict escape routes 26.
  • Multi-target attack: Fires six spinning blood arrows simultaneously at different vital points during the Kangiten battle 72.
  • Restraint and containment: Describes his technique as suitable for restricting powerful opponents’ movements; also uses blood to seal Gojo’s mouth 35 47.

Martial Arts and Cursed-Energy Reinforcement

Years of intensive practice give Xian Di strong close-combat fundamentals, stamina, and cursed-energy control 26 33.

  • Combines reinforced punches, kicks, blocks, and evasive movement in rapid exchanges 26.
  • Defeats Zhiyan in a martial-arts spar by maintaining offensive pressure and following a successful clash with a leg sweep 33.
  • Reinforces his body against Kangiten’s impact, avoiding serious injury despite being thrown into a building 71.

Falling Blossom Emotion

A secret anti-domain technique of the Three Great Families that coats his body in cursed energy and automatically retaliates when a domain’s sure-hit attack touches it 58.

  • Creates a thin blue film over his skin rather than relying on ordinary reinforcement alone 58.
  • Counters an incoming sure-hit attack with equal force 58.
  • Does not cancel Checkmate’s rules or free him from the domain; because its pieces cannot damage him, the counterattack never activates 59.

Reverse Cursed Technique

Xian Di learns Reverse Cursed Technique after a near-death experience 101.

  • Its acquisition is confirmed, but the provided account does not demonstrate his healing range or whether he can heal other people 101.

Strategy and Chess

Xian Di excels at patient analysis and using an opponent’s constraints against them 58 59 65.

  • Wins Checkmate while playing Black with only thirty seconds per move against Yuko’s sixty 58 59.
  • Exploits weaknesses in her middlegame transitions and impatient endgame rather than attempting direct supernatural attacks 59.
  • Anticipates Kyoto’s decision to split its team so that one group can continue exorcising spirits if the other is intercepted 65.

Clan Administration

Xian Di begins handling Kamo family affairs at an early age, balancing schoolwork and missions with administrative responsibilities 71.

  • Reviews files and writes document notes during school holidays 71.
  • His friendship with the other two heirs contributes to easing relations among the Three Great Families 71.
  • Plans to continue clan and political work into adulthood 108.

Relationships

  • Zhiyan Zenin / Naoya Zenin — Childhood opponent, longtime friend, regular sparring partner, and political ally. Their mutual respect grows from their first match; Xian Di also encourages Zhiyan to make time for dates with Shoko 26 28 33 73 97.
  • Satoru Gojo — Childhood friend and frequent target of his dry humor. Xian Di restrains and watches over him during the drunken Blue incident, but also helps silence him during Zhiyan’s punishment and mocks him when Wana makes him kneel 39 40 47 119.
  • Yuko Kurokawa — Goodwill Event opponent and increasingly close companion. Their chess rivalry develops into outings and mutual embarrassment when friends tease them; she later brings him news of Yaga and Shoko’s detention 58 73 98.
  • Suguru Geto — Classmate, seating partner, and mission teammate. They share friendly banter and fight alongside one another against Kangiten 32 62 69 72.
  • Wana Zenin — Friend and classmate. He worries about her sheltered combat experience, while she anxiously awaits his return from Yuko’s domain 32 50 57 58.
  • Shoko Ieiri — Friend and classmate. He treats her respectfully at their first meeting and helps organize the response when Headquarters detains her 25 32 98.
  • Masamichi Yaga — Homeroom teacher. Yaga supervises his class and accompanies the students to their Special Grade certification ceremony 32 101.

Trivia

  • His first informal visit to Zhiyan’s courtyard is specifically to try the tea he has heard praised; unlike Gojo, he enjoys it 28.
  • His childhood Piercing Blood demonstration gives Zhiyan the model for a water-based projectile using Max Elephant’s ability—not actual Blood Manipulation 26.
  • Despite describing his chess experience as having “dabbled,” he defeats Yuko within her own domain. Zhiyan later jokes that Xian Di has lost to him about twenty times 58 73.
