Once given permission, the cute pink bear cursed corpse immediately lunged at Dai Li. Its seemingly soft woolen fists were nothing to scoff at once reinforced with cursed energy.
I really didn't want to waste any more cursed energy.
Dai Li currently had about half as much cursed energy left as an ordinary Grade 1 Sorcerer. If he hadn't gone to play pachinko, he would have had roughly two-thirds.
He immediately drew on his cursed energy, his haphazard control making him look like an amateur.
Following the pink cursed corpse's straightforward path, Dai Li successfully predicted where it would appear next and lightly swung his cursed-energy-coated fist.
With a squishy thump, Dai Li sent the pink cursed corpse flying in a single blow. It sailed straight into the wall before coming to a stop.
Masamichi Yaga looked at his battered cursed corpse with a hint of heartache in his eyes. The little creature slumped against the wall, unconscious after exhausting its cursed energy.
There was no technique to Dai Li's punch, just raw strength and a lot of cursed energy.
"You knocked this cursed corpse unconscious in one hit."
"It seems your strength is real. You still can't replenish your cursed energy, correct?"
"I'll give you a passing grade, barely."
"But your cursed energy control is terrible! Satoru, once you become a teacher, make sure you teach him properly!"
Masamichi Yaga declared that Dai Li had passed without much fuss. He didn't seem intent on making things difficult for him, though it could also have been because jujutsu sorcerers were desperately short-handed.
"All right, all right. I'll take him to the student dorms now."
As soon as the test ended, Satoru Gojo whisked Dai Li off to the student dorms, as though staying another second would make him the next target of the lecture.
The student dorms at Tokyo Jujutsu High were a cluster of low, Japanese-style wooden houses. They weren't exactly new, and some of the boards along the outside of the corridors even had a greenish tinge.
The brown wooden wall panels had weathered years of wind and rain, leaving their edges worn.
Fortunately, the students' living quarters had clearly been renovated. The floorboards inside were much newer than those in the outside corridors.
"This is your room. You're welcome to stay here for the two months before school starts."
Dai Li stepped inside. The room was furnished with the basics.
A bed, a wardrobe, a desk, a chair, and a nightstand-pretty much everything was there.
Except that there was a floor-to-ceiling sliding window right beside the bed, and they hadn't provided any curtains.
Still, he was quite satisfied with this spacious single room. It was far better than the four-person dorm he'd lived in before.
"I have a question."
"What if I want to shop online? Say, buy things from Rakuten Market or Amazon?"
"There's a barrier here, so ordinary people can't get in. And the school is deep in the mountains. I don't have any luggage at all, so I need to buy everything again."
With a barrier around the school, ordinary delivery drivers couldn't get in. The place was so remote, surrounded by mountains and forests. Surely he couldn't just put down some address in the city and go collect everything himself.
"For that, just use this address."
Satoru Gojo seemed to have anticipated the question. He took out his phone and texted Dai Li an address. They had already exchanged numbers.
"Packages sent to this address will be delivered to Jujutsu High by members of Window whose cursed energy has been registered."
"Window consists of ordinary people with a small amount of cursed energy. They're auxiliary intelligence personnel, and some also work as delivery drivers."
"I see. That's pretty convenient."
Dai Li saved the address Satoru Gojo had sent him and decided to order a computer and a game console from Amazon later. He wouldn't survive these two months without games.
Of course, he'd buy daily necessities too, using the money he'd won at the pachinko parlor.
"Excuse me."
While Satoru Gojo and Dai Li were talking, a fluffy, cute, chubby, black-and-white figure quietly approached them.
"Wow, a talking panda."
Dai Li delivered the line in a completely emotionless monotone. He'd already known there was a panda at Jujutsu High.
"That's right, but you don't seem shocked at all."
"Everyone else was pretty surprised when they first saw me. Are talking pandas not rare anymore? Your reaction kind of hurts."
Panda lowered his head slightly and poked the index fingers of his paws together.
"This is Panda. He's a cursed corpse who can think and grow, Principal Yaga's greatest masterpiece."
"Like you, he'll be enrolling in two months. You'll be classmates in the same year, so get along."
"That's right. My name is Panda. Nice to meet you."
As he spoke, Panda held out a paw to Dai Li.
Dai Li extended his right hand and shook Panda's paw, brushing against its soft pads in the process.
"I'm Dai Li. Nice to meet you."
"Didn't you go anywhere for summer break?"
"I'm a panda, after all. If I just wander outside, they'll catch me and put me in a zoo."
Dai Li knew he belonged to Satoru Gojo's first class of students, so meeting Panda came as no surprise.
Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and the sneakiest of them all, Yuta Okkotsu, would also be his classmates.
When Yuta Okkotsu arrived, he would bring along Rika Orimoto, a Special Grade Vengeful Cursed Spirit who indiscriminately attacked anyone she thought posed a threat to him.
In that case, their second-year seniors should be Kinji Hakari and Kirara Hoshi.
"I'll leave Dai Li to you and the principal, Panda."
"I've got something to take care of, so I'm heading off. Bye!"
With that, Satoru Gojo used Limitless to teleport away without the slightest hesitation, leaving them no time to say goodbye.
"That was fast."
"He's always like that. You'll get used to it."
"Yaga told me you've apparently always been on your own."
Panda had easily learned this basic information from Masamichi Yaga. He was also quite curious about his future classmate.
"More or less. Before I came to Jujutsu High, anyway."
"Don't you get lonely?"
"..."
"I guess... maybe."
Dai Li had only been in this world for a week, so he couldn't really say whether he was lonely.
He was simply going with the flow. He'd met Suguru Geto, disliked what he was doing, and fought him. That had led him to Satoru Gojo, who had brought him to Jujutsu High.
The only little joys he'd had these past few days were eating delicious food at a few upscale restaurants.
"I'm a panda, and I don't have any siblings. But Yaga and the other jujutsu sorcerers treat me well. This place is my home, and Yaga and everyone else are like my family."
"You can think of Jujutsu High as your home too. You don't have to be alone anymore. Everyone here is really nice."
Family, huh...
Despite being a panda, he was far more sensitive about these things than someone like Satoru Gojo.
"I couldn't stand having someone like Satoru Gojo as family."
"Hahaha, maybe you've got a point."
The man and the panda were surprisingly in sync when it came to poking fun at Satoru Gojo.
"I live in the house next door. It looks like you're the only one in this house for now."
"The classmate next to me is apparently descended from a Cursed Speech User or something. The other one is a female jujutsu sorcerer from the Zenin Clan, so she isn't in the boys' dorms."
"If you get lonely, come find us."
"Anyway, I'll leave you to get your room set up. Bye."
"Yeah."
Panda then left, seemingly heading toward the building where Masamichi Yaga had been earlier.
Dai Li returned to his room.
Now, time to buy some stuff online.
