Desolate Mountain, inside the barrier.
In a secret chamber hollowed out and furnished halfway up the mountain, spotless wooden floors reflected the dim candlelight.
Huge screens stood arranged in a fan, a faint human silhouette visible behind each one.
"No contact for over an hour..."
An aged, raspy voice came from behind the leftmost screen. "It seems the mission failed."
A brief silence fell, and the candles flickered.
"Is there any risk of exposure?"
An even deeper voice asked from the other side.
"Rest assured, there is absolutely no chance of that."
A somewhat younger, confident voice rang out. "The Heavenly Guard Corps' loyalty to you esteemed gentlemen is beyond question."
"I planted self-destruct marks on both of them before they departed, and they also made a binding vow as a second safeguard."
"Even if No. 888 dies, he will only act according to plan."
"For all we know, that lunatic sorcerer is already heading to the Zenin compound."
"Mm. You did well, Heavenly Guard Extra."
The elder at their head quietly praised his subordinate, then said indifferently, "Let the Three Great Families deal with that madman. It doesn't matter who wins."
If Jiahao died, a potential threat would be eliminated. If the Zenin were wiped out, they could simply take over.
"It's just a shame about that replica of the Inverted Spear of Heaven. It took us several years to barely manage to produce that one."
The old man behind another screen sounded faintly puzzled. "We're just giving away our trump card against Satoru Gojo?"
The young leader of the Heavenly Guard Corps replied with complete confidence, "Rest assured, sir. I've already stationed men near the Zenin compound. Once both sides have battered each other, we'll make our move and retrieve the replica of the Inverted Spear of Heaven."
"What a shame..."
The elder at their head sighed softly. "We finally found an unaffiliated Jujutsu Sorcerer with talent rivaling Satoru Gojo's, yet he's completely beyond our control."
Before the Higher-Ups at Jujutsu Headquarters could even send anyone to approach and recruit him, Jiahao had already defected from humanity's side.
Someone with no parents, no attachments, and no way to control him was even more dangerous than Satoru Gojo.
Otherwise, they would never have used the trump card they had spent years preparing against Satoru Gojo to deal with Jiahao.
Thanks to Jiahao's punctual monthly collection of protection money, they had been able to slip assassins in ahead of time to prepare.
"Next item."
"According to the information Jiahao revealed at the Goodwill Event, the Disaster Cross Society will make its move against Satoru Gojo on October thirty-first."
"Should Jujutsu Headquarters send support?"
Silence. No one spoke in the darkness.
"Then let's wait and see."
The best outcome, tacitly understood by all the Higher-Ups, was for Jiahao and the Zenin clan of the Three Great Families to blow each other up, and for Satoru Gojo and the Disaster Cross Society to perish together.
Then Jujutsu Headquarters could take complete control of Jujutsu Society.
"An intruder?!"
Sensing something wrong with the outer barrier, Heavenly Guard Extra whipped his head around. The next second...
BOOOOM!!
The mountain shook as several layers of defensive barriers exploded apart along with the entrance to Jujutsu Headquarters.
With the barriers shattered, pure white moonlight poured into the chamber like a waterfall, illuminating the darkness.
Thin wisps of smoke still rose from the edges of the heavy stone door, while shattered wood fragments and dust hung in the air, slowly drifting down.
In the moonlight, the dust glittered like fragments of stars suspended in the cosmos.
Then someone brushed the stars aside and stepped onto the moonlight.
Clap, clap, clap!
The protagonist's applause rang out, clearly audible in the deathly silent chamber.
Dressed in an entirely new outfit, Jiahao surveyed the silent chamber and smiled. "Hiding this far away-you really made me work to find you."
"I assume you gentlemen here are the big shots at Jujutsu Headquarters."
Jiahao gave a courteous little bow. "A pleasure to meet you. I'm Jiahao."
"Tonight, you may also call me Yagami Hao."
Dazzling scarlet eyes, brown hair, and a black suit.
Jiahao straightened and drew a black notebook from the void. "A long, long time ago..."
"To warn the humans on earth, the gods in heaven sent several death notebooks down from the sky."
"If you wrote a name in one of those notebooks, the corresponding human would die."
"The gods intended to frighten humanity into ending its senseless wars of mutual slaughter. Yet humans became obsessed with this power that had fallen from the heavens, and craved even more death notebooks... They even dreamed of replacing the gods above with their mortal bodies."
"The heavenly gods flew into a rage, sending down calamities to reclaim the notebooks."
"But even gods have careless moments. A god miscounted the notebooks, leaving the final one behind in the mortal world."
As the story ended, cursed energy surged wildly behind the screens.
"Enough of your supernatural bullshit. Don't tell me you're claiming that what you're holding is the last Grim Reaper Note a god left in the human world!"
Heavenly Guard Extra spoke to buy time while charging up his ultimate attack.
A Grim Reaper Note, my ass. Extra didn't believe some myth coming out of a lunatic's mouth.
Even if he entertained the possibility, there was no way the lunatic before him could know his name.
The only exit was blocked, and ordinary cursed techniques couldn't shake the Kamui void.
In perfect unspoken coordination, the Higher-Ups charged their ultimate attacks, preparing to unleash a blood-pumping combination strike that would annihilate the void.
"No, that's not what I mean."
Jiahao calmly explained to Extra, "The Grim Reaper Note in my hand is real, but I'm not a mortal who picked it up."
"I'm your daddy-the heavenly god who came down here and miscounted the notebooks!"
Yagami Hao, who had been so refined a second earlier, immediately tore off his respectable mask and started cursing. "You ancient sons of bitches! A god finally comes down for a massage, and you ruin the whole fucking mood!"
"Sending a foot-massage therapist to assassinate a god!"
"How much did you drink to get this fucking stupid?!"
His little mouth opened, spewing a fragrant bouquet of filth; his little hand pointed, and the fucking insults began.
Once his crude, rude main personality finished cursing, the gentle, cultured Yagami Hao personality took over seamlessly.
"Um..."
Yagami Hao opened the notebook, smiled at Extra, who had spoken earlier, and politely asked, "May I ask your name?"
Hmph. I knew it!
Behind the screen, Heavenly Guard Extra sneered smugly to himself. This guy can't use the notebook without knowing my name.
After waiting a full three seconds without an answer, Yagami Hao shook his head with a soft sigh, then wrote four large characters in the notebook.
Impossible!!
There's absolutely no way that lunatic knows my name!
Watching Jiahao write, Heavenly Guard Extra began to panic!
First-Rise No. 1.
Yagami Hao drew a horizontal line across those four large characters.
BOOOOM!
The mountain shook, and something enormous blocked the moonlight.
A pitch-black demon over five meters tall forced its way through the shattered stone doorway.
The demon looked similar to a human: one head, two hands, two legs, and a pair of tattered black wings.
It had spiky hair, sharp, pointed teeth, and abnormally long limbs covered in stitch-like scars.
Following Yagami Hao's gaze, Grim Reaper Mahito, who could freely reshape his body, surged forward with a crazed laugh.
"Hahaha! A bunch of rotten souls and minced meat! Not even one Special Grade who's mastered a domain?"
Ignoring slashes and cursed techniques, Grim Reaper Mahito barreled through cursed energy cannon fire and darted into the chamber like a phantom.
If one punch didn't kill them, that counted as a dud.
"Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection!!!"
