Appearance
- Normal form: Humanoid, with stitched scars covering his body and a conspicuously stitched face 16 20.
- Mutable anatomy: Can replace ordinary limbs with weapons, hooves, or wings by reshaping his own soul 21.
- Depleted form: Repeated regeneration under Jiahao’s attacks reduces his adult-sized body to that of a small boy 22.
- Grim Reaper persona: Appears as a gigantic humanoid with spiky hair, pointed teeth, abnormally long scarred limbs, and tattered black wings during the Headquarters assault 42.
- True Kun persona: Wears a suit and carries a machete with Jiahao’s gangster-styled entourage before the Shibuya operation 45.
Personality
Mahito is curious, playful, and casually cruel. He takes an immediate interest in Kenjaku’s theory that Jiahao can copy fictional abilities, joking about whether a copied Goku could destroy the planet. His curiosity also overrides Kenjaku’s warning to avoid Jiahao: unable to perceive Jiahao’s soul, he wants to touch it for himself 16 21.
He treats human suffering as an opportunity for experimentation and manipulation. After helping Junpei become a sorcerer, he exploits the boy’s desire for revenge and transforms him in front of Itadori to force a bargain with Sukuna. When Sukuna refuses, Mahito joins in mocking Itadori’s helplessness 20.
His confidence collapses when Jiahao proves capable of damaging his soul. He surrenders, threatens exposure, and finally begs for his life. The subsequent torture leaves him withdrawn and fearful of Jiahao, whom he later addresses deferentially as “Brother Hao” 22 26 38.
That fear does not erase his attachment to the other curses. He comforts Jogo after Hanami’s death and repeatedly prevents him from attacking Jiahao, placing their shared cause above immediate revenge 35 38.
Abilities & Skills
Idle Transfiguration
- Soul alteration: Touches a soul and changes its shape, altering the corresponding body 20 21.
- Human transfiguration: Turns Junpei into a grotesque creature and uses transfigured humans as bait to lure Itadori into the school 20.
- Sorcerer awakening: Junpei credits Mahito with awakening his ability to use jujutsu 20.
- Reversal: Mahito intends to undo Junpei’s transformation if doing so secures a binding vow between Sukuna and Itadori 20.
- Later application: Helps Jiahao transform nine captured Headquarters officials into five-meter-tall “Abnormal Titans” 44.
- Stated restriction: Explains that he must maintain his original human form while using Idle Transfiguration to attack another soul 21.
- Failed target: Cannot reach Jiahao’s soul while Jiahao’s body is displaced through Kamui 21.
- Victim survival: Ordinary transfigured humans are described as beyond recovery. Junpei survives restoration by Jiahao because his awakened sorcerer’s soul is more resilient 18 20 21.
Soul Perception
- Can faintly perceive the outlines and qualities of other people’s souls without physical contact 21.
- Discerns Sukuna’s presence within Itadori, including the image of an indifferent gaze above countless corpses 21.
- Sees only a boundless void when examining Jiahao—the first such case he has encountered 21.
Self-Transformation
- Reshapes his own soul to turn his flesh into forms suited for combat 21.
- Creates spiked whips, densely woven blades, and sharp bone projectiles fired from his fingers 21.
- Produces hooves for rapid retreat and flesh-colored wings during his attempt to escape Jiahao 21.
- Uses his mutable body to assume the monstrous Grim Reaper appearance for the Headquarters attack 42.
Regeneration and Soul-Based Defense
- Regards his soul as his true self and his body as replaceable; claims that destroying his flesh cannot finish him while his soul remains intact 22.
- Rebuilds his body after Hao Flash and repeatedly regenerates heads destroyed by Jiahao’s kicks 22.
- Regeneration consumes cursed energy. Repeated destruction slows his recovery and shrinks his body 22.
- Soul-damaging attacks bypass this defense: Jiahao’s later strikes sever his limbs, cause bleeding, and inflict direct pain on his soul 22.
Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection
- Kenjaku identifies Mahito’s near-exhaustion and soul development as a catalyst for approaching Domain Expansion 26.
- Mahito later activates the named domain inside Jujutsu Headquarters while attacking its assembled officials 42.
Domain Amplification
- Uses Domain Amplification with Jogo to make attacks through Gojo’s Limitless possible 48.
- Must suspend his innate cursed technique while maintaining it, leaving him to fight in ordinary humanoid form 48.
- Does not overcome Gojo’s superior reactions: Gojo evades his attacks and continues overpowering Jogo 48.
Barrier Construction
- Establishes a school barrier that permits entry but prevents exit 20.
- Combines the barrier with deliberately placed cursed residue and transfigured humans to draw Itadori into his confrontation with Junpei 20.
Equipment / Items
- Notebook — Records Jiahao’s meeting slogans and proposed organization names while serving as secretary 38.
- Sukuna’s fingers — Holds several stolen fingers during the retreat following Hanami’s death 35.
- Machete — Carries one as part of his True Kun role in Jiahao’s Shibuya entourage 45.
Relationships
- Wang Jiahao — Initially an object of curiosity, then his torturer and eventual leader. Mahito fears him, adopts a deferential manner, and follows his orders; he nevertheless genuinely enjoys their outing against Headquarters 21 22 38 43.
- Kenjaku / “Suguru Geto” — Strategist and adviser. Warns Mahito about Jiahao, recognizes his developing domain potential, and directs the curses’ plan to gather Sukuna’s fingers 16 21 26.
- Jogo — Fellow curse whom Mahito protects from impulsive retaliation. He steadies Jogo after Hanami’s death and urges him to endure Jiahao’s abuse for their cause 35 38.
- Hanami — Fellow member of the curse alliance. News of Hanami’s death removes Mahito’s amusement, though he doubts Jiahao’s account of who killed it 35.
- Junpei Yoshino — Manipulated protégé. Mahito helps awaken his jujutsu abilities, encourages revenge, and ultimately uses his transformation to torment Itadori 20.
- Yuji Itadori — Target of a scheme intended to give Sukuna greater control. Mahito exploits Itadori’s friendship with Junpei to pressure him into bargaining 20.
- Ryomen Sukuna — Intended beneficiary of Mahito’s school trap. Sukuna’s refusal to heal Junpei ruins the planned bargain, leaving Mahito to speculate about Sukuna’s existing arrangements or hidden intentions 20.
- Kento Nanami — Investigates and previously fights Mahito in the sewers, returning with information about his rank and soul-altering technique 20.
- Satoru Gojo — Major obstacle to the curse alliance. Mahito later attacks him alongside Jogo and Choso but cannot successfully intervene while Gojo brutalizes Jogo 16 48.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Introduction and the Junpei Incident
- Joins Kenjaku and Jogo’s discussion of Jiahao’s suspected cross-dimensional copying technique, showing particular interest in its fictional applications 16.
- Engineers the Satozakura High confrontation to force Itadori to bargain with Sukuna. Sukuna refuses, and Jiahao arrives to restore Junpei 20 21.
- Attacks Jiahao despite being warned to avoid him. Kamui defeats his attempts to make contact, and Jiahao eventually reveals that he can damage Mahito’s soul 21 22.
- Is tortured through a repeated subtraction exercise. When the school barrier breaks, he crawls toward the sunlight before Jiahao catches him again 22 23.

Recovery and the Goodwill Event Theft

- Urges Jogo to retreat after Hanami’s death rather than retaliate against overwhelming opposition 35.

Shibuya Operation
