Background / History

Jiahao arrives in the Jujutsu Kaisen world after an encounter with a Dayun truck in his original world. His system awakens immediately, but instead of granting effortless wealth, it rewards emotional reactions to his words, actions, and appearance. Its sole mission is to exorcise Sukuna at his peak—a demand that initially terrifies him 1 5.

He spends a year building strength through public embarrassment and purchased upgrades. Initially afraid to attract powerful beings, he waits until he can defend himself before using Itadori as his route into jujutsu society 5.

After arriving in Sendai to attend Sugisawa Third High, Jiahao demands protection money from the city’s gangs and forcibly recruits a biker gang operating near his school. His entourage, conspicuous scooter arrivals, and persistent attention to Itadori make him one of the school’s two most discussed figures 1 4.

Gojo recruits him after recognizing his potential. Jiahao accepts on the assumption that he should teach Itadori and Fushiguro, but Yaga approves his enrollment rather than a teaching appointment. Jiahao nevertheless continues calling his sparring sessions “instruction” 4 6 12 34.

Appearance

  • Natural black hair: His initial wine-red dye washes out during the rain performance. He later uses a half-black, half-white hairstyle, wigs, and other colors to suit different personas 1 2 17.
  • Athletic build: Displays defined abdominal muscles during his school performance 1.
  • Bandaged hands: Presents them as “sealed” sources of power. His healing technique manifests a diamond-shaped rune that spreads across his arm when activated 4 5 10.
  • Changing eyes: Initially wears purple colored contacts; later reveals scarlet, three-tomoe eyes capable of genuine supernatural effects 1 6 7.
  • Blindfolds and masks: Uses black satin over his eyes and an Obito-style mask as parts of his staged appearances 5 9.

Notable Personas

Persona Presentation
Akatsuki-styled Jiahao Black coat embroidered with red clouds, accompanied by a skull-and-lightning throne and bald underlings 4.
Uchiha Super Saiyan Jiahao Goku-style uniform marked “Hao,” golden spiky hair, Sharingan-like eyes, and a motorized tail 7.
Obito-styled Jiahao Masked costume paired with real Kamui-like intangibility 9.
Black Jack Hao Doctor persona used while restoring Itadori’s arms 10.
Vegeta-styled Jiahao Dragon Ball battle armor and a yellow, single-lens scouter 13.
Great Detective Kehao Blue blazer, red bow tie, shorts, tracking glasses, anesthetic watch, and soccer-ball belt 15.
Kaneki Hao White hair and black clothing inspired by Ken Kaneki 17 21.
Shanks Hao Stages an arm-sacrifice rescue and gives Itadori a straw hat 25.
Uchiha Zuohao Naruto-inspired Goodwill Event persona; later appears dressed as Sasuke 29 31.
Yagami Hao Brown hair, black suit, scarlet eyes, and a black “death notebook” 42.
Father Hao Black robe, silver cross necklace, white gloves, Bible, and machete 45 49.

Personality

Jiahao’s apparent shamelessness is learned rather than innate. He originally considers himself ordinary and finds the system’s demands embarrassing. Repeated rewards gradually turn him into someone who actively seeks an audience and becomes uncomfortable without opportunities to show off 1 5 13.

His grandiosity is usually calculated. He targets sorcerers and exceptional individuals because they produce more points than ordinary people, changes audiences when familiar classmates become desensitized, and lets opponents attack until their reactions stop being profitable. Kenjaku’s composure frustrates him, while Mahito’s fear makes the curse particularly valuable 1 5 21 35 38.

He combines genuine protection with reckless manipulation. He heals Nobara, restores Itadori’s arms, and saves Junpei, yet also introduces a curse onto campus to manufacture a heroic rescue and subjects students to punishing training. Their close-combat skills improve, but they resent both the injuries and his accompanying speeches 8 10 20 21 25.

Jiahao values independence over official recognition. He refuses Special Grade status because it offers little beyond increased danger and fewer opportunities to earn points. Against enemies, he is ruthless: he kills hostile curse users, tortures Mahito, and retaliates against Headquarters after its assassination attempt 14 19 22 38 43.

Abilities & Skills

Tycoon System

His system converts emotional reactions into a spendable resource, variously called Hao points, swagger points, tycoon aura, tycoon points, and valor points 1 5 12 49.

  • Purchases: Can buy cursed techniques, martial arts, weapons, abilities from other worlds, and direct improvements to cursed energy and technique strength 1 5.
  • Audience selection: Sorcerers and exceptional individuals generally provide better returns than ordinary people; repeated exposure reduces the effectiveness of familiar performances 1 5 35.
  • Indirect earnings: His revived servants can generate points through their own speech, actions, and appearance 49.
  • System reactions: Even the system itself becomes a source of points when his performance surprises it 49.
  • Restrictions: Refuses his requests for discounts and additional quests; retains the single mission of exorcising peak Sukuna 5 11.

Cross-Dimensional Ability Acquisition

Jiahao possesses several abilities modeled on fictional media, despite the usual understanding that a sorcerer has only one innate cursed technique 10 19.

  • Kenjaku calls his suspected technique “Alternate Copy” and theorizes that it reproduces fictional abilities across dimensions 16.
  • Kenjaku suspects cosplay and behavior may be activation conditions, but this remains a theory rather than a confirmed restriction 16.
  • Jiahao’s demonstrated abilities include Kamui, Hundred Healings, and Impure World Reincarnation 9 10 49.

Ultra Instinct Hao and Martial Skills

Ultra Instinct Hao doubles his speed and reflexes and allows automatic reactions. His system also grants high-level close-combat and weapon proficiency 1 5.

  • Defeats Maki with a single punch without using a cursed technique 12.
  • Overwhelms a Grade 1 curse user through punches, elbow strikes, and kicks while conducting an observation lesson 13.
  • Sends Todo into a crater with one kick, leaving him with a broken arm 29 30.
  • His close-combat proficiency rises from Tycoon Master to Grand Tycoon Master level by the later panel 5 27.

Hao Flash

Jiahao’s version of Black Flash produces black-and-red lightning and a momentary spatial distortion. Unlike ordinary sorcerers, he appears able to trigger it deliberately 5.

  • Devastates the hired samurai and later severely injures three-finger Sukuna 5 9.
  • Overcomes Strength Reversal by exceeding the defensive technique’s limit 14.
  • Breaks through Gojo’s Limitless and sends him hundreds of meters away 35.
  • Leaves cursed energy rampaging inside Mahito, making bodily regeneration costly 22.

Kamui / Void Kamui

Kamui shifts Jiahao between ordinary space and a separate dimension, rendering attacks ineffective while his body is absent from reality 9 27.

  • Intangibility: Evades Sukuna’s strikes and slashes, as well as Mahito’s physical and soul-touching attacks 9 21.
  • Transportation and storage: Bypasses barriers, stores possessions and remains, and moves groups of people into and out of his dimension 7 14 31.
  • Contact protection: Can make something he touches intangible, including Hanami 34.
  • Range interaction: While shifted into another dimension, he lies outside Todo’s Boogie Woogie range 33.
  • Attack window: Must become solid to attack 9.
  • Costs and counters: Consumes substantial cursed energy; Gojo’s spatial technique can briefly pull him back into reality, and a technique-canceling cursed tool can pierce his intangibility 11 34 41.
  • Eye safety: The different laws of this world remove the blindness and nearsightedness risks associated with his Sharingan use 11.

Spatial Attacks and Ocular Perception

His eyes support offensive spatial techniques and unusually detailed perception 9 35 41.

  • “Amaterasu”: Despite its name, the demonstrated attack distorts space, destroys Sukuna’s partially formed Malevolent Shrine, and shreds his arms 9.
  • Kamui: Chaotic Domain: Collides with Hollow Purple, leaving a vast crater across the event grounds 36.
  • Cursed-energy detection: Exposes Number 888’s assassin role and detects her concealed partner before the ambush 41.
  • Inner-world confrontation: Uses his Sharingan-like gaze to confront Sukuna within Itadori’s shared inner world 35.

Hundred Healings and Reverse Cursed Technique

Also called the Strength of a Hundred Technique, this ability works with Reverse Cursed Technique to produce exceptional healing. His later panel lists Hundred Healings Reversal 10 27.

  • Regrows both of Itadori’s missing arms 10.
  • Heals Nobara after the detention-center incident 8.
  • Restores Junpei after Idle Transfiguration, leaving him alive but unconscious 21.
  • Regenerates his own arm after the staged rescue 26.
  • Prevents Number 888’s specially developed poison from affecting him 41.

Soul-Damaging Attacks

Jiahao can damage Mahito’s soul, bypassing the defense on which the curse’s apparent immortality depends 22.

  • Initially wears Mahito down through repeated bodily destruction and regeneration 22.
  • Later severs his limbs with attacks that inflict genuine soul damage 22.
  • The supplied encounter does not reveal the mechanism behind this ability 22.

Impure World Reincarnation

The Jiahao edition requires flesh from a deceased person and summons them as a servant. It is his largest documented purchase at 99,000 points 49.

  • Revived servants obey every command permanently and cannot betray him 49.
  • Their performances generate valor points for Jiahao 49.
  • Revived Toji regenerates catastrophic damage and uses his revenant body to continue fighting Gojo 49.

Cursed-Energy Control and Network Hacking

  • Creates a rooftop-wide rain canopy through precise cursed-energy release rather than a separate technique 18.
  • Purchases Beginner Tycoon-level Network Hacking and later rejoins the students’ group chat using a new phone 27.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ghost Fire scooter and Harley motorcycle — Conspicuous transport chosen partly to attract public attention 4 13.
  • Pianos, loudspeakers, and portable speakers — Recurring tools for musical entrances and staged performances; stores dozens of speakers in the Kamui Dimension 1 3 7 49.
  • Motorized tail — Costume accessory capable of binding and suspending a protesting restaurant manager 7.
  • Phones — Crushes his phone after Kenjaku reveals he tracked it; later uses a brick phone and purchases another device 15 19 27.
  • Technique-canceling short blade — Taken from Number 9527; pierces Kamui and forcibly cancels active techniques, resembling the Inverted Spear of Heaven in effect 41.
  • Toji’s remains — Seized from Spirit Medium Granny and later used for reincarnation 14 49.
  • Black notebook — Used in his Yagami Hao performance. Its claimed name-based killing power is not independently established; writing “First-Rise No. 1” precedes Mahito’s entrance 42.
  • Bible, cross necklace, and machete — Carried as Father Hao 45.
  • Straw hat — Given to Itadori as his supposedly most precious treasure after the staged rescue 25.

Relationships

  • Yuji Itadori — Former schoolmate, favored source of points, and frequent training target. Jiahao’s apparent romantic fixation is strategic; Itadori nevertheless trusts him to save Junpei and repeatedly worries about his safety 1 21 25 33.
  • Satoru Gojo — Recruiter, protector, and rival. Gojo recognizes his potential, enjoys their serious fight, and blocks an official bounty after his defection; Jiahao later binds himself to act toward Gojo’s sealing 4 12 36 37 49.
  • Megumi Fushiguro — Escort and reluctant observer of his early performances. Quickly becomes resistant to ordinary boasting and provides tactical analysis during Jiahao’s fights 4 5 13.
  • Nobara Kugisaki — Teammate he heals; frequently punctures his dramatic personas and stolen catchphrases 8 25 35.
  • Maki Zenin — Training partner who resents his behavior but values the improvements produced by his harsh instruction 12 19 20.
  • Masamichi Yaga — Principal who approves his enrollment and respects his ability, but becomes furious over his pranks, defection, and destruction of campus 6 19 25 37.
  • Shoko Ieiri — Medical colleague he deliberately provokes. His arm regeneration astonishes her; mocking her skills leads to a fight 10 11.
  • Kento Nanami — Mission associate who recognizes his precise control and power while remaining wary of his conduct 17 18 23.
  • Kenjaku — Scheming collaborator. Their binding vows require Kenjaku to accommodate Jiahao’s demands concerning deviations from his plan and personal presentation, while Jiahao must act to seal Gojo 15 49.
  • Mahito — Former opponent, traumatized subordinate, and secretary. Jiahao exploits his fear for points; Mahito calls him “Brother Hao” and restrains Jogo to preserve cooperation 22 38.
  • Jogo — Resentful organizational subordinate who doubts Jiahao’s commitment to the curses’ cause 38 43.
  • Sukuna — System-assigned ultimate target and mutual enemy. Jiahao defeats his three-finger manifestation and later provokes him inside Itadori’s inner world 5 9 35.
  • Toji Fushiguro — Revived servant whose battle with Gojo provides both combat support and valor points 49.
