Kenjaku was in a terrible mood.
The further his pregnancy progressed, the stronger his body's reactions became.
Those sensations were driving his entire brain to the brink of madness, and Jin Itadori still kept trying to touch and hug his body.
Kenjaku couldn't help snapping at Jin Itadori and sending him away.
If he hadn't been afraid that damaging his body would harm the vessel, he would have cut himself open and taken the babies out long ago.
He endured another stretch of time like that.
One day, while Kenjaku was eating breakfast, he felt a pain in his body, followed by a warm stream running down between his legs.
Kenjaku immediately realized he was about to give birth. He braced himself against the dining table and stood up.
"I have something to do. I'm heading out."
With the birth approaching, Uraume had long since been standing by in his laboratory.
Kenjaku had no intention of giving birth somewhere like a hospital.
"Kaori..." Seeing his wife act like this, Jin Itadori assumed her pregnancy hormones were making her lose her temper again, but when he noticed the wet patch on the back of her pants, he sensed something was wrong.
"Kaori, are you going into labor? They covered this in the class I took. Your water's broken!"
Looking worried, Jin Itadori reached out to support Kaori Itadori, only for his wife to slap his hand away the next second.
"No. I have something to do, so I'm leaving."
Kenjaku's face was a little pale. This pregnancy had been troubled ever since the twins appeared, and now his belly hurt terribly.
Kenjaku took out his phone, intending to call Uraume as he walked and tell them to get everything ready.
Like him, Uraume could use Reverse Cursed Technique. Kenjaku trusted that, for the vessel's sake, Uraume would be more dedicated than any hospital doctor.
"No. We're going to the hospital right now!"
Jin Itadori was usually meek and submissive, but today his wife was about to give birth and still wanted to go out. He absolutely would not allow her or the children to face that kind of danger.
Jin Itadori bent down, slid an arm beneath Kenjaku's knees, and scooped the heavily pregnant man into his arms.
"Kaori, this isn't the time to be throwing a tantrum. We're going to the hospital right now."
Having said that, Jin Itadori ignored Kenjaku's reaction and called for Wasuke Itadori, who had just returned from his morning exercise, to come with them to the hospital.
Although Wasuke Itadori wasn't particularly happy with his daughter-in-law, the old man wouldn't let them down at a critical moment like this. He briskly picked up the hospital bag they had prepared in advance and was sitting in the back seat of Jin Itadori's car within minutes.
Kenjaku was left rather speechless as Jin Itadori settled him firmly in the car.
His mouth twitched, and he wanted to curse, but wave after wave of contractions hit him. His face was pale, and his breathing grew increasingly rapid.
Seeing his wife so weak, Jin Itadori couldn't bear to wait any longer.
"Dad, I'm going to speed up. Keep an eye on Kaori. Something doesn't look right."
Jin Itadori gripped the steering wheel tightly as he gave his elderly father instructions.
"Hurry up and stop wasting your breath."
Wasuke Itadori rolled his eyes at him. Did he think he couldn't see what was happening? He wasn't some wicked father-in-law from a TV drama.
He watched over Kenjaku from the seat beside him, worried that a careless move from Jin Itadori behind the wheel might send him tumbling.
Running several red lights along the way, Jin Itadori raced Kenjaku to the hospital in Sendai where they had registered the pregnancy.
When they heard that the patient was about to give birth, the doctors and nurses hurried over with a gurney.
"She's carrying twins, and you're only bringing her in now? You two are far too careless!"
The nurse glared angrily at the irresponsible father and son. His wife was carrying twins, yet not only had they failed to admit her ahead of time, they had waited until the babies were practically coming out before bringing her to the hospital.
The pregnant woman's amniotic fluid had almost all drained away! Any later, and it would have been dangerous!
"...I'm sorry."
Jin Itadori felt guilty too. He shouldn't have let Kaori have her way. If anything happened to her or the children, he would never forgive himself.
Seeing how readily he admitted his mistake, the nurse couldn't bring herself to say anything more.
Several doctors and nurses hurriedly wheeled the patient into the operating room.
Jin Itadori and Wasuke Itadori sat anxiously on the chairs in the hallway.
Outside the operating room, everything was eerily quiet. Only the "Surgery in progress" sign gave off a faint, cold glow.
