What did "tracing" mean?
A Star Lord had to be the strongest in everyone's eyes.
In martial prowess, there could be no second place.
Everyone had someone they acknowledged as the strongest fighter.
If the strongest person in someone's eyes was already dead, that person no longer counted. After all, no one could defeat someone who was already dead, nor could anyone take the title of "strongest" from the deceased.
But if the strongest person in someone's eyes was still alive, then ideally, that person should be you.
Even if it was not you, that did not mean the condition had failed.
Because the person they considered the strongest would also have someone they acknowledged as the strongest. As long as you kept tracing upward, following each chain of recognition until they all ultimately pointed to you, the condition still held.
It was like someone who looked to Yu Qian as a spiritual ideal, while Yu Qian took Yue Fei as his role model, and Yue Fei set Guan Yu as his goal. Although the person at the start did not admire Guan Yu the most, following that chain of recognition to its end still led to Guan Yu.
The condition for becoming a Star Lord worked the same way.
It did not require your name to be the first one that came to everyone's mind.
What it truly required was for every chain of recognition among living powerhouses to ultimately converge on you.
The strongest person in everyone's eyes did not have to be you. But tracing the people those strongest individuals recognized as the strongest had to lead to you in the end.
Only when every chain of "strongest" led back to the same person would that person qualify for Earth's recognition as a Star Lord.
