Naomitsu stroked the little girl's head. It was hard not to like such an obedient child.
With proper training, she would become a great help to him in the future.
With the first half of the year's assessment finished, Naomitsu did not linger at Kyoto Jujutsu High. These days, coming to school was purely a matter of clocking in. Once his assignment was done, he went home.
He was already getting a taste of life as a corporate workhorse at such a young age.
The trip home went smoothly. Ever since Naomitsu had gone to Tokyo and killed a few people, things had been quiet for a while.
Perhaps that also had something to do with the cursed spirits in Hokkaido and Shikoku.
He arrived safely at the Zenin Clan estate, but the atmosphere there was unusual. Everyone was silent. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought someone had died.
Because of that atmosphere, Naomitsu did not go straight to his own home. Instead, he headed to the Clan meeting room.
There, Naomitsu was surprised to find quite a few people.
Naobito Zenin sat at the head, with Ogi Zenin and Jinichi Zenin standing to his left in that order. To his right, much to Naomitsu's surprise, were Satoru Gojo and the two principals.
Wait, what? What were they doing here?
"Naomitsu? Come over here! Gojo and the principals are looking for you!"
Naobito Zenin gestured toward Satoru Gojo and the others as he spoke.
Naomitsu turned his head. If they wanted to see him, why hadn't they gone to Kyoto Jujutsu High? Why come to the clan estate to see that old man Naobito Zenin?
"Suguru Geto is dead!"
Satoru Gojo dropped a bombshell the moment he opened his mouth. Naomitsu whipped his head around and stared into his eyes.
"Suguru Geto is dead? Did you kill him, sir?"
Satoru Gojo shook his head and explained the truth behind Suguru Geto's death as everyone in the room listened.
"It happened yesterday. The fight ended very quickly. All we know is that one of those involved was Suguru Geto, and they took his body away."
A person immediately came to Naomitsu's mind.
None other than Kenjaku, that brain.
Thinking back to the people he had encountered in Hokkaido, and factoring in Kenjaku's desire for Suguru Geto's Cursed Spirit Manipulation, everything fell into place.
"So why did you come looking for me?"
Naomitsu was puzzled. What did Suguru Geto's death have to do with him? Surely they didn't think he had killed him?
"We're worried you might be their next target, so we came to take you to Tokyo Jujutsu High. With Gojo watching over you, we can ensure your safety."
After hearing their explanation, Naomitsu understood.
But with Maki and the others to consider, he had no intention of going to Tokyo Jujutsu High.
"I'll pass on Tokyo Jujutsu High. I'm confident in my own strength. You can go back. I'm not going there."
The two principals turned their heads away from Naomitsu. Though they acknowledged his strength, he was still a child in their eyes.
Everything depended on the clan head, Naobito Zenin.
Naobito Zenin rubbed his temples. "Kid... You really know how to make people worry!"
"Naomitsu!" Ogi Zenin, who cared deeply about keeping up appearances, spoke up.
Naomitsu swept a cold gaze toward him. "If you force me to do something I don't want to do, I can simply leave the clan."
Those words infuriated Ogi Zenin. He was a deeply controlling man. The only reason he usually left Naomitsu alone was that the boy was obedient enough.
Daring to defy him was a challenge to his authority as a "father."
"Hah!"
After sweeping his gaze around the room, Naomitsu left the clan estate. He had seen this clan for what it was. He had thought he could stay a little longer, but from today onward, he could leave.
From now on, he could live at Kyoto Jujutsu High or Tokyo Jujutsu High. There was no need to return to the Zenin Clan.
"Ogi, don't be angry. Every child goes through this at his age. That boy Naoya has been the same lately," Naobito Zenin said soothingly.
"Clan Head Zenin, we should be leaving as well."
Seeing that the matter had come to nothing, Masamichi Yaga and Yoshinobu Gakuganji said their farewells.
Not long after stepping outside, Naomitsu encountered Satoru Gojo waiting up ahead. Clearly, he still had something else to say to him.
"Go ahead, Mr. Gojo."
Gojo tilted his head back, his Six Eyes beneath the blindfold filled with a jumble of emotions. Yet after struggling to speak for ages, he only walked alongside Naomitsu.
"If you're not going to say anything, sir, then I'll be on my way."
Satoru Gojo placed a hand on Naomitsu's shoulder. "The last time you saw Suguru Geto! What did he say to you?"
Naomitsu had known it. Satoru Gojo had followed him to ask about Suguru Geto. In a cultivation world, Suguru Geto would have been Satoru Gojo's inner demon.
Naomitsu recounted his final conversation with Suguru Geto to Satoru Gojo from beginning to end.
However, he did not mention the people he had encountered in Hokkaido or his encounter with Kenjaku, choosing to keep those matters to himself.
Some things had to remain hidden. If Satoru Gojo found out, their fragile bond as teacher and student would turn into enmity.
"Naomitsu! Do you think Suguru Geto is dead?"
Naomitsu fell silent. Of course he knew whether Suguru Geto was dead, but he couldn't exactly tell Satoru Gojo that someone had replaced Suguru Geto's brain and turned him into another person, could he?
"Geto is incredibly strong. I'm sure he wouldn't die. He probably just suffered serious injuries in the fight and found somewhere to recover, right?"
Hearing those words of comfort, Satoru Gojo only smiled. Naomitsu couldn't tell whether they had sunk in. He simply walked farther and farther away until he disappeared from sight.
"Who would've thought? The plot has been forced forward by a whole five years. Looks like my arrival has thrown this world into complete chaos."
In the original story, the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons was the crucial turning point that allowed Kenjaku to obtain Suguru Geto's body.
But now, it had happened five years early. It was hard to imagine anything good coming from the unknown developments ahead.
"Looks like life here is about to get completely chaotic. I keep feeling that Kenjaku is planning something huge. Resurrecting Sukuna probably isn't enough to satisfy his twisted sense of fun anymore."
At the thought of Kenjaku's smile, Naomitsu unconsciously curled his lip.
"Little Naomitsu, long time no see."
A familiar voice sounded beside him. He had only just been talking about
Kenjaku, and now Kenjaku had actually appeared.
Naomitsu slowly turned his head. Sure enough, Suguru Geto stood behind him with stitches across his forehead. There was no need to guess. This was Kenjaku, the one Satoru Gojo was looking for.
"You've got some nerve! Don't you know Satoru Gojo is looking for you? If you want to die, don't get me killed along with you."
"Suguru Geto" approached, wearing Suguru Geto's signature smile. But with Kenjaku behind it, there was something distinctly sinister about it.
"Little Naomitsu, I came to ask you a favor."
After "Suguru Geto" spoke, two girls appeared behind him. They were Nanako and Mimiko, the girls Suguru Geto had adopted.
Several years had passed, and the two girls had grown into little delinquents.
They wore heavy makeup, earrings, and short skirts.
"Please look after them for me. Sorry for the trouble!"
