Background / History

Naomitsu’s previous life ends when a Dayun truck strikes him while he is crossing a road. He reincarnates as Ogi Zenin’s youngest son, retaining knowledge of the world’s expected events. His unusually strong soul allows cursed energy to manifest much earlier than the usual childhood range 1.

Ogi welcomes him as the clan’s “future light,” but Naomitsu recognizes that this approval depends on his usefulness. Watching Ogi abuse Maki and Mai convinces him that disappointing their father could be fatal. He begins studying jujutsu theory and training from infancy, then redirects Ogi’s attention away from a threatened Maki by asking to learn the quick-draw slash 1 2.

Appearance

  • Small childlike build: At two years old, he is under 90 centimeters tall—shorter than his 100-centimeter Soul Liberation Blade 6.
  • Frequently mistaken for an ordinary child: Travelers offer to help him find his family, Todo initially doubts his authority, and Miwa assumes he is lost 7 32 45.
  • Harmless outward presentation: Deliberately uses an innocent voice and expression to conceal his intentions when approaching adults 34 35.
  • Visible energy release: His eighth-birthday surge makes his body glow with black-and-red cursed energy 45.

Personality

Naomitsu is initially cautious, survival-driven, and intensely disciplined. He hides Ten Shadows until he believes he can protect himself, evaluates his mistakes after fights, and repeatedly returns to training despite frustration with his limited early reserves 2 3 4.

His strongest loyalties are personal rather than institutional. Maki and Mai’s care gives him a sense of family, and he extends that protection to Megumi, Tsumiki, Zhenwei, and others who become dependent on him. Separation from his sisters and companions leaves him lonely even when his new living conditions are comfortable 2 11 20 49.

He is also calculating and manipulative. He turns Naoya’s pride into assistance with shikigami rituals, negotiates with more dangerous figures instead of fighting unnecessarily, and presents himself as an innocent child while pursuing concealed plans. His decision not to prevent Rika’s anticipated death reveals the limits of his willingness to intervene for strangers 9 34 35.

Increasing power makes him more domineering. He recognizes this change after severely injuring Todo, while his retaliation against bounty hunters shows a willingness to kill those targeting him. He nevertheless avoids unnecessary battles and prefers not to harm uninvolved people 32 42 44.

Abilities & Skills

Cursed-Energy Perception and Annual Growth

Naomitsu can see numerical cursed-energy values and possesses reserves that increase through training as well as annual doubling 1 4.

  • Opponent assessment: Reads Shuizhan’s boosted reserve of 613,721 and judges whether he can win their output contest 41.
  • Early manifestation: His strong soul explains why his energy appears unusually early 1.
  • Diminishing training gains: At higher totals, ordinary training adds relatively little compared with birthday doubling 37 45.
  • Detection limitation: Cannot track Toji through cursed energy because Toji has none 7.

Ten Shadows Technique

His inherited technique summons shikigami whose strength depends on his cursed-energy investment. This lets his versions become substantially stronger than Megumi’s 10 14 47.

Shikigami Documented use or acquisition
Divine Dogs Knocks down Naoya; later dispatches minor curses and intercepts Yamata no Great Serpent’s water snakes 3 42 47.
Rabbit Escape Subdued during Toji’s training; later used to occupy Yamata no Great Serpent during combat 8 47.
Toad Subdued during Toji’s training; restrains the Grade 2 curse threatening Kamo 8 13.
Nue Subdued with Naoya’s assistance; provides aerial attacks, lightning, and transportation 9 13 27.
Max Elephant Subdued with Nanami’s assistance; used for charges and heavy stomping attacks 22 27 41.
Great Serpent Appears in student combat tests; overturns an attacking truck and probes Shuizhan’s defenses 31 38 41.
Round Deer Subdued through his domain; heals others, including Todo’s lost arm 29 31 32.
  • Permanent-loss risk: A completely destroyed shikigami cannot be summoned again 4.
  • Piercing Ox: Begins wearing it down through close combat and his domain; the provided passage does not establish the ritual’s final outcome 45.
  • Tiger Funeral: Fights it with Cursed Energy Cannons, though successful subjugation is not explicitly shown in the supplied passage 46.
  • Mahoraga: Remains a future goal. Naomitsu intends to overwhelm its adaptation with a massive energy discharge rather than challenge it prematurely 29 45.

Cursed-Energy Manipulation and Cannons

Naomitsu uses energy release, weapon infusion, bodily coating, and compressed ranged attacks 16.

  • Physical reinforcement: Coats his fists to fight a Grade 1 curse without his sword 7 8.
  • Mobility: Creates cursed-energy footholds while moving between buildings 8.
  • Precision fire: Uses repeated cannons to destroy Yamata no Great Serpent’s regenerating snakes 47.
  • Charging limits: Smaller cannons fire instantly; larger discharges require preparation 46.
Cannon output Documented preparation and comparison
10,000 energy points Demonstrated to Utahime; described as sufficient to obliterate a Semi-Grade 1 curse 16.
500,000 energy points Takes two to three seconds to charge; compared in power to Gojo’s Blue 46.
1,000,000 energy points Requires at least ten seconds; compared to a Purple-level discharge, not use of Limitless itself 46.

Swordsmanship and Black Flash

Ogi teaches him Iaido movements associated with Falling Blossom Emotion, a technique described as capable of defending against a domain’s guaranteed physical hits once mastered. Naomitsu’s actual use of that domain defense is not shown 2.

  • Repeated sword drills: Practices more than ten thousand swings while developing infusion and seeking Black Flash 4.
  • Black Flash state: His second successful strike produces a “no self state,” sharpening energy control and improving speed and attacks 6 7.
  • Consecutive strikes: Lands two successive Black Flash slashes, destroying a wall and leaving a trench 11.
  • Reliability limit: Cannot consistently reproduce Black Flash on demand 4 8.

Reverse Cursed Technique

Shoko teaches him to multiply two streams of negative cursed energy into positive energy. He succeeds after three attempts and learns to direct it through his body 17.

  • Self-recovery: Uses it to recover from Piercing Ox’s repeated charges 45.
  • Technique burnout: Restores his technique after domain use, initially taking thirty seconds to a minute 39.
  • Direct healing limit: Cannot heal Shoko’s cut arm 17.
  • Healing others through Round Deer: Restores Todo’s arm, but cannot erase Inumaki Yaki’s unusual mouth wounds 31 32.

Binding Vows

Naomitsu uses restrictions as long-term investments and as ways to strengthen his domain 14 38 42.

  • Ten-year energy seal: Commits 10% of his energy annually and restricts annual use to half his energy, in exchange for a 500% boost upon release 14.
  • Explaining domain rules: A verbal disclosure vow supports the growth of Three Births, All Things 38.
  • Open Domain restriction: Gives up movement to obtain a 500-meter range 42.

Domain Expansion: Three Births, All Things

The domain initially forms a sealed black sphere containing an Azure Lotus, a Bodhi Tree, and Naomitsu’s additional cursed-energy bodies. Its contest drains opponents’ reserves rather than relying on conventional attacks 29 38.

  • Technique prohibition: Participants cannot use cursed techniques inside the contest 38.
  • Reserve advantage: Two additional energy bodies contribute reserves alongside Naomitsu’s own 38.
  • Permanent templates: Defeated participants leave likenesses or statues that strengthen his side in later expansions 29 39 42.
  • Recorded additions: Round Deer, Rika, Yuta, six assessed students, Shuizhan, insect-like curses, and a bounty hunter 29 38 39 42 44.
  • Development through absorption: Shuizhan’s addition supplies the cursed-spirit category previously missing from the domain and produces a qualitative transformation 42.
  • Open form: Drains ten Grade 1 insect-like curses and turns them into statues 42.
  • Costs and limits: Can heavily deplete Naomitsu and cause technique burnout; he does not consider it sufficient by itself to safely challenge Mahoraga 29 39.

Teaching and Combat Leadership

Naomitsu assesses students individually and assigns training according to their weaknesses 27 34.

  • Physical conditioning and tool versatility: Priorities for Nobara; basic fitness for Naoya and hand-to-hand improvement for Todo 27 34.
  • Energy precision: Recommended for Inumaki and Kamo 27 34.
  • Advanced development: Encourages Sora to pursue Black Flash and eventually a domain 27 33.
  • Dangerous assessments: Uses shikigami battles and domain attrition tests that repeatedly alarm Utahime 31 38 39.
  • Field protection: Orders his students to stay together and withdraws them from Shuizhan’s fight 41.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Soul Liberation Blade — Special Grade soul-cutting cursed tool received from Toji. Its 100-centimeter length exceeds Naomitsu’s early height, but he handles it easily and infuses it with far more energy than a wooden sword can withstand 6.
  • Custom sheath — Lightweight sheath constructed by Mai for the oversized blade 6.
  • Black cloth wrapping — Conceals the sword during travel 7 8.
  • Wooden practice swords and bamboo — Early training materials; frequently break under his cursed-energy output 4.
  • Cursed-spirit glasses — Obtains them from Gojo and gives them to Maki so she can see curses without cursed energy 23 25.

Relationships

  • Maki Zenin — Older sister and central motivation for his training. He protects her from family abuse and plans a route toward fully awakening her Heavenly Tyrant physique 1 3 23.
  • Mai Zenin — Older sister who supports his training and makes his sheath. He hopes to free her from the constraints imposed by the twins’ linked circumstances 2 6 23.
  • Ogi Zenin — Father whom he distrusts and emotionally rejects. Their conflict ends with Naomitsu severing ties and leaving the clan 7 40 48 49.
  • His mother — Affectionate but constrained by Ogi. Naomitsu arranges for senior students to rescue her during the attack on the estate 1 25 49.
  • Naoya Zenin — Rival turned lackey, sparring partner, and student. Naomitsu repeatedly defeats him and requires formal teacher-student address at school 3 9 32.
  • Toji Fushiguro — Weapon supplier and harsh trainer. Their bargain makes Naomitsu responsible for protecting Megumi 5 8 10.
  • Megumi and Tsumiki Fushiguro — Companions placed under his care. Megumi also shares Ten Shadows; both later join his independent household 11 14 49.
  • Zhenwei Zenin — Rescues her from clan bullies, trains her Heavenly Restriction, and hopes she can protect herself and his sisters 37 39 44.
  • Satoru Gojo — Teacher whose overwhelming defenses expose Naomitsu’s early limits. Naomitsu retains the relationship while concealing his dealings with Kenjaku 19 20 48.
  • Kento Nanami — Dependable mentor who teaches investigation and caution, then assists with Max Elephant’s subjugation 21 22.
  • Utahime Iori — Instructor, colleague, and frequent critic of his attendance and dangerous teaching methods. Helps secure Shoko’s instruction and supervises students during his absence 16 17 31 34.
  • Shoko Ieiri — Reverse Cursed Technique teacher and friend; they celebrate his breakthrough with an amusement-park outing 17 18.
  • Yuki Tsukumo — Helps arrange his Sendai residence and investigates the assassination network targeting him 34 44.
  • Hiromi Higuruma — Prospective ally whom Naomitsu seeks out before his possible awakening, hoping his future domain can remove Mai’s cursed energy 23.
  • Suguru Geto — Treats Naomitsu courteously. Naomitsu acknowledges the burden behind his choices without trying to change his course 20.
  • Kenjaku — Dangerous negotiating partner. Agrees to bring Higuruma to Naomitsu and later asks him to care for Nanako and Mimiko 35 48.
  • Yuta Okkotsu and Rika — Subjects of his Sendai investigation. After overpowering them through his domain, he leaves Yuta an invitation to seek help at Kyoto Jujutsu High 34 35.
  • Nanako and Mimiko — Geto’s adopted daughters, whom Naomitsu houses after Kenjaku’s request 48 49.
  • Guzi Yunmeng — Student hosting a head of Yamata no Great Serpent. Seeing Naomitsu overpower the incarnated curse reassures her that Kyoto is a suitable refuge 47.
  • Yuji Itadori — Arrives at his villa with Gojo in 2013 and joins the household’s shared meals and daily chores 50.
