There were only a handful of ways to destroy Mahoraga, all of which had appeared in the original story.
There were purely physical methods, such as Sukuna's "Dismantle" and "Open"-slashing attacks and incineration by flames. Then there was overwhelming him with pure cursed energy, such as Satoru Gojo's Blue and Purple.
Another option was Angel, who shared a body with Hana Kurusu. His ability to extinguish cursed techniques was another way to resolve the problem by eliminating the technique itself.
Naomitsu's ability to eliminate cursed energy was actually similar to Angel's.
Once a creature entered his domain, Naomitsu could drain it of all its cursed energy if he wished. After its cursed energy vanished, its life force would take over, continuing to resist him.
Mahoraga was clearly no exception. Once his cursed energy was drained, his life force would begin to fade next.
"This is my first time pushing my domain to its maximum limit. Even if I wanted to stop, I couldn't."
Naomitsu had always controlled his domain carefully before. Otherwise, those kids would all have died during that assessment.
The domain's first stage pitted cursed energy against cursed energy. Its second stage pitted cursed energy against life force.
Likewise, if his opponent had more cursed energy than Naomitsu, then it would be Naomitsu's life force that was gradually drained away.
This rare example of a domain that could work against its own user also served as a binding vow on such an overpowered ability.
