Background / History

Uncontrolled Awakening and Rescue

Before meeting Jianxia, Uraume repeatedly regained consciousness to find the people around him dead from the cold. His father, mother, and others who lived with him were among the victims. Believing himself to be a curse that brought misfortune, he regarded death as his only release 13.

Jianxia and Megumi discover him alive beneath ice in a ruined thatched house within a bamboo grove. Recognizing Uraume and fearing that Sukuna might arrive, Jianxia has Banquet of Fated Remnants carry him away. The group travels two or three kilometers before stopping 12 13.

Uraume asks Jianxia to kill him, but Jianxia first establishes that he never deliberately harmed anyone. He explains that Uraume needs instruction rather than punishment and urges him to live as a human sorcerer who exorcises genuine curses. Uraume takes his offered hand and asks permission to follow him 13.

Life at Hiraizumi

At the Zenin Estate, Uraume tells Shinji that he wishes to serve Jianxia rather than join a clan. Although he wants Jianxia to teach him personally, Jianxia assigns his basic instruction to Megumi, whose experience makes her better suited to teaching a beginner 14 15.

After quickly learning cursed-energy control, Uraume proposes hunting spirits to help Jianxia. He and Megumi spend the night capturing six low-grade spirits, using ice to bring them back safely. Their work becomes a regular nightly operation, later joined by Zenin Wu Yan 23 31.

Uraume also cooks, escorts visiting clan leaders, and supports Jianxia’s household projects. During the Gojo Gen duel, he enthusiastically defends Jianxia’s sewage-based tactics while other spectators recoil. Journey to Izu

Uraume joins Jianxia and Megumi on an expedition to investigate a special-grade cursed spirit in Izu Province. Jianxia also intends to advertise Hiraizumi through Uraume’s cooking, his own recipes, and advanced cookware, hoping to attract unaffiliated sorcerers 44.

This is Uraume’s first long journey. Delighted to have an important role, he quietly resolves to work twice as hard for Jianxia. At a village stop, he reheats fried rice preserved in technique-generated ice, removing the ice without adding water to the dish 44 45.
