Background / History
Long Xi comes from a previous life in the modern world, where he had read the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and repeatedly watched its anime scenes on Bilibili. His knowledge gives him advance information about the main cast, Sukuna, and the Sendai Colony, though he repeatedly discovers that events and opponents do not behave exactly as he remembers 6 8 18 37.
His family died early in his former life. His remaining attachments were mostly friends with whom he played games, stayed up late, and complained about work. While recovering in Sendai, the possibility that one of those friends might be watching his stream gives him renewed motivation to survive 18.
He initially has no teacher, legal identity, or registration in Jujutsu Society. At his first meeting with Gojo, he says he has known about his powers for only eight days. Gojo nevertheless recruits him and offers to handle the paperwork 8.
Appearance
Long Xi’s ordinary eyes are dark. His alternate accounts develop distinct appearances associated with their techniques 34.
- Rain-associated account: Clear blue eyes and a gentler expression 34.
- Flame-associated account: Brown hair and red eyes; initially wears the same clothes as the other account 34.
- Jujutsu High clothing: His rescuers identify his affiliation from a school-exclusive gold button among his torn clothes 18.
- Sendai injuries: Frequently appears bloodied or bandaged; after fighting Ryu and Uro, he is wrapped in bandages from head to toe 43.
Personality
Long Xi begins as a cautious opportunist. He scouts Sugisawa High for eight nights, refuses to take Sukuna’s Finger, and times his first major intervention to maximize safety, audience interest, and goodwill. He rejects the idea that familiarity with the story makes him invulnerable 2 3.
His first successful attack on Sukuna awakens an appetite for difficult fights and recognition. That ambition sometimes becomes overconfidence: he admits he underestimated Ryu and Uro, and later mistakenly attacks a cursed civilian during a routine mission. He usually favors preparation and unfair advantages, but abandons a tactical shortcut against Ryu to answer the other fighter’s desire for a wholehearted contest 7 38 41 48.
He insists that he values his own life and is neither a saint nor a particularly good person. Nevertheless, gratitude and personal bonds repeatedly draw him into danger. Kawahara’s group saving him leads him to protect their shelter and undertake a rescue; their deaths leave him grieving, furious, and newly appreciative of Yuji’s wish to give people a “proper death” 18 28 33.
Sarcasm, gaming references, and shameless banter are his habitual responses to stress. He jokes with Gojo, needles Megumi, and argues with viewers even during emergencies. The audience gradually becomes more than a power source: its warnings, concern, and connection to his former life help sustain him emotionally 9 17 18 44.
Abilities & Skills
Advance Screening / Early Access
His foundational technique places the area within 50 meters in an observed state. Third-person observers continuously supply cursed energy, while completed broadcasts award permanent enhancements and other acquisitions 1.
- Attention-based growth: More engaging broadcasts produce substantially better rewards; dull content yields little improvement 1.
- Energy replenishment: Viewers sustain his reserves during combat and recovery. Early replenishment is modest, while a larger active audience can nearly match his expenditure 8 18 38.
- Episode rewards: Broadcast settlements can grant techniques, study cards, attribute increases, tools, and access to special instances 9 33 47.
- Unknown ceiling: Long Xi tells Gojo that he knows of no upper limit to his growth 8.
- Difficult to analyze: Gojo’s Six Eyes identify the continuous energy supply but cannot fully decipher the technique 8.
At LV.2, Early Access adds two functions 47:
- Assistant space: A safe room inside Long Xi’s mental space from which an assistant can help manage the livestream.
- Gift mechanism: Converging viewer emotions can produce a major temporary benefit, such as restored energy or stamina, rapid recovery, a concentrated attack, or a grand prize granting one minute of immortality. These are described possibilities, not confirmed prizes he has already received.
Furious Flame Mound
An offensive technique that gives his cursed energy fire properties, increases his fire resistance, and allows him to control flames 6.
- Fire resistance: LV.1 negates 10% of fire damage; complete immunity at higher levels is Long Xi’s speculation 6.
- Emotional amplification: His own emotions, nearby emotions, and viewer emotions can strengthen attacks. Its stated ceiling is 3,000%, treated by Long Xi as thirtyfold power 6.
- Charging requirement: Strong amplification normally needs time and sufficient emotional intensity 6.
- Compressed attacks: Forms spears, blades, spikes, and close-range flames that burn targets internally 6 23 26.
- Defensive control: Through experimentation, creates a close-fitting ring of fire that burns and traps approaching curses 29.
- Collateral restraint: Keeps flames small while escorting civilians rather than setting the mall ablaze 20 21.
Its documented specialized applications include:
| Application | Function |
|---|---|
| Flame Spear | A concentrated fire attack used to penetrate Sukuna’s defense and inflict a small wound 7. |
| Flame Seed | Invisible cursed-energy seeds attach to terrain or opponents without leaking heat; later detonation disrupts shikigami and structural supports 29 31. |
| Void | Rapidly heats localized air to create pressure changes and shock waves, including attacks that damage targets from within 29. |
| White Flame | Highly compressed flame used against Dhruv’s giant shikigami’s energy nodes and skull 26. |
Sweet Rain from the Heavens
A healing and support technique that creates rainfall, alters local weather, and later allows control of surrounding water 33 43.
- Recovery support: Restores stamina, stabilizes cursed energy, and supports Reverse Cursed Technique 33.
- Disorder: Rain can disrupt an opponent’s cursed-energy flow and weaken them 35 42 43.
- Swift: Compresses cursed-energy-infused water into concentrated bombardments; is not restricted to falling rain 43.
- Water manipulation: Controls seawater as fine, compressed threads during his underwater curse hunt 46.
- Shared buffs: A benefit received by one account applies fully to his other accounts 34.
- Combined offense: Overlaps rain and flame power into a single beam during his final exchange with Ryu 42.
- Counters: Ryu can disperse his rain clouds, while Uro can prevent the rain from reaching her 34 38.
Wind of Co-Heaven
A technique awarded after the Culling Game instance. Long Xi uses it while investigating nearby cursed residue during the Grade 2 curse mission; its full mechanics are not explained in the supplied chapters 47 48.
Cursed-Energy Control and Physical Combat
Long Xi develops from a self-taught novice into a highly efficient combatant, reaching Cursed Energy Manipulation LV.5 and later acquiring Precision LV.2 26 43 47.
- Reinforces his body for striking, defense, rooftop parkour, and high-speed pursuit 19 21 29.
- Charges a pebble with cursed energy and later fires compressed energy bullets at a curse’s eye 3 5.
- Refines his energy into a dense white form after reaching a quantity bottleneck 14.
- Leaves cursed residue on an axe so a civilian security guard can contribute against curses 20.
- Initially uses improvised fighting that he calls Wing Chun, while privately acknowledging it is not authentic 2.
Reverse Cursed Technique
Long Xi learns self-healing while dying from Dhruv’s attack on his heart. After thirteen failures, he restarts it and survives 28 29.
- LV.3 enhancement: Faster recovery, reduced consumption, and continuous operation while cursed energy remains available 29.
- Combat reinforcement: Repairs damage caused by pushing his muscles and legs beyond their previous limits 29.
- Limitations: Does not remove pain or guarantee immediate recovery from every injury; after the Sendai battle, Yuta estimates that some wounds will need at least two days 36 43.
- No external output: He cannot use Reverse Cursed Technique to heal others, unlike Yuta 41.
Black Flash
Long Xi first demonstrates Black Flash against Dhruv’s giant shikigami, combining physical force, cursed energy, and White Flame 26.
- Lands two Black Flashes during the finishing sequence against the giant shikigami 26.
- Combines Black Flash with a threefold emotional boost to break through Uro’s spatial defense 39.
- His system records a 10% trigger chance at proficiency, later improving to a 15% initial chance when serious with increased chances during consecutive triggers 29 43.
Alternate Accounts
The Character Creation Card lets Long Xi operate two bodies simultaneously, assigning rain and flame techniques to different accounts 34 35.
- Coordinated attacks: Uses opposing angles, shared buffs, and complementary techniques to pressure enemies 34 35.
- Recombination: Can recall an account without a condition and reunite his combat power 34.
- Sacrifice: Sacrifices the second account during his prepared battle against Ryu to restore power to his main body 36.
- Limits: Splitting prevents full combat output, and simultaneous control places severe strain on his mind 34 39.
Binding Vows
Long Xi repeatedly trades future resources or imposes restrictions for immediate power. He jokingly treats these bargains as “loans” 6.
| Situation | Price / Restriction | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Attack on Sukuna | Empties his reserves, gives up his techniques for three days, and promises not to harm Yuji | Accelerates the attack’s conditions and channels everything into a strike targeting Sukuna 6. |
| Giant shikigami battle | Reveals Furious Flame Mound; separately gives up technique use during the final two days ahead | Increased output, energy circulation, and physical reinforcement for two hours 23. |
| Final attack on the giant shikigami | Gives up flame-technique use for the rest of the instance | A short maximum-output burst 26. |
| Pursuit of Dhruv | Offers half his life | Restores Furious Flame Mound and enhances its output, control, and energy conduction 30. |
| Three-way Sendai battle | Gives up livestream energy recovery for three hours | Ten minutes of increased energy and stronger technique effects 38. |
| Counterattack on Uro | Caps emotional amplification at threefold | Reduces its charge time to a few seconds 39. |
Long Xi initially avoids lifespan bargains because he does not know whether instance vows affect his real body. Later, he asserts that the instance limits their consequences and uses that assumption to justify greater sacrifices 23 30.
Barrier Study and Tool Crafting
- Barrier fundamentals: Studies with Uro for two days, but cannot yet perform Domain Expansion. His system’s “Domain Expansion!” achievement is not evidence that he possesses the ability 40 43 46.
- Cursed-tool creation: Attempts to transform an ancient sword through repeated exorcisms, cursed residue, and energy saturation. Purple-black patterns develop inside its cracked blade, but a completed transformation is not confirmed 46.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Emperor Bell — Bronze cursed tool received after reaching 100,000 followers. Its chime clears weak residue, disrupts spirits, reveals energy traces and barrier weaknesses, and counters certain mental effects. It shatters when Long Xi uses it to kill a pterosaur shikigami 14 16 23 27.
- Kawahara’s damaged cursed blade — Retrieved after Kawahara’s death and carried into the pursuit of Dhruv 29 30.
- Ancient museum sword — Identified by the partial name “Fiore … Liberi”; used as the vessel for his cursed-tool forging attempt 46.
- Swift Wind — Grade 1 ring that reduces his weight to one-tenth without reducing his physical attributes 47.
- Study cards — Reward items that raise abilities. A Deep Study Card advances Reverse Cursed Technique to LV.3; the instance settlement later grants two more Study Cards 29 47.
- Character Creation Card — Enables his second account; a further Character Card is awarded at settlement 33 34 47.
- Livestream Assistant Cards — Used to acquire assistant support, including Riko Amanai; another is awarded after the instance 33 34 47.
- Unused custom cursed-tool option — First awarded for striking Sukuna; its available customization grade rises to Grade 1 after the instance 9 47.
Relationships
- Satoru Gojo — Teacher and sponsor. Recruits Long Xi, handles his enrollment, and provides financial support. His enthusiasm for Long Xi’s potential coexists with concern about his unusual nature; Yuta later reports that Gojo searched extensively after his disappearance 8 9 11 32.
- Yuji Itadori — Classmate and friend whose compassion Long Xi sincerely admires. Long Xi protects him through the Sukuna binding vow and later comes to understand his ideal of a “proper death” 6 10 33.
- Megumi Fushiguro — Classmate, initially suspicious of Long Xi’s identity and abilities. Their relationship develops into teasing, concern, and teamwork, with Megumi restraining Long Xi’s recklessness on missions 4 9 13 47 48.
- Masamichi Yaga — Principal who distinguishes Long Xi’s clear resolve from the need to prove that his rapid growth is stable 13 14.
- Livestream viewers — Audience, energy source, and emotional support. They provoke him into risky spectacle but also supply warnings and encouragement when he is close to death 2 17 18 28.
- Kawahara — Rescuer and shelter leader. His group’s kindness motivates Long Xi to protect civilians; Kawahara dies defending him, and Long Xi later retrieves his blade and buries him 18 28 29 33.
- Chiharu Takayanagi — Assistant supervisor and evacuation partner. Organizes civilians while Long Xi fights, provides medical supplies, and supports him with barriers and distraction 20 21 27.
- Yuta Okkotsu — Senior student and ally. Rescues evacuees, helps bury the dead, and supports Long Xi in battle while remaining concerned about his extraordinary growth 32 33 41 43.
- Riko Amanai — Livestream assistant acquired through a reward card. Encourages him, manages filming under dangerous conditions, and helps negotiate the tense aftermath with Uro 34 35 43 46.
- Ryu Ishigori — Opponent turned close friend and sparring partner. Recognizes the emotional basis of Long Xi’s amplification, transfers his points, and trusts his warnings about Sukuna 42 43 44 45 46.
- Takako Uro — Opponent turned contentious ally and barrier instructor. Initially mislabels him a Fujiwara despite his Chinese nationality; later teaches him and monitors his progress 39 43 46.
- Ryomen Sukuna — Enemy and intended future target. Long Xi’s surprise attack wounds his one-finger incarnation; Sukuna threatens to make him his first victim upon taking full control 7 44.
- Dhruv Lakdawalla — Enemy who pierces Long Xi’s heart and kills personnel defending him. Long Xi survives, pursues him, and kills him with Void 28 29 32.
- Kenjaku — Reportedly marks Long Xi as a target because of his unusual interaction with the colony barrier. Long Xi suspects his broader abilities and forbidden knowledge may also have attracted attention 28 33.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Sugisawa High and Recruitment
Long Xi enters Sugisawa High after extensive scouting, aiming to reach the Occult Research Club without taking Sukuna’s Finger. He exorcises weak curses, then intervenes alongside Yuji and Megumi to rescue two students. The dramatic rescue increases his audience but nearly exhausts his reserves 2 3.
After receiving Furious Flame Mound, he commits to a vow-enhanced strike against the newly incarnated Sukuna. The attack inflicts a small wound, and Yuji regains control before Sukuna can retaliate. Gojo subsequently finds Sukuna temporarily unresponsive and recruits Long Xi after examining his two techniques 6 7 8 9.
Jujutsu High Assessment
Streaming and settlement rewards rapidly bring Long Xi to pseudo-Grade 2 reserves. Yaga judges that his determination is already clear, but assigns him a Grade 2 exorcism to demonstrate stability. Yuji and Megumi are designated as support, with Long Xi leading 11 13 14.
Before the mission, Long Xi reaches an energy bottleneck, begins Purification, and passes 100,000 followers. The newly activated Culling Game instance abruptly pulls him away from his dormitory 14.
Sendai Survival and Civilian Rescue
Long Xi enters Sendai badly outmatched by its strongest combatants. He kills a Grade 2 Insect King but barely survives Kurourushi, suffering severe injuries before Kawahara’s group rescues him 16 17 18.
Repaying their help, he rescues Takayanagi and nine others from a mall. He escorts them through the subway, defeats another Grade 2 spirit, and returns toward the threatened parking garage 19 20 21 22.
Dhruv Battle and Near-Death Breakthrough
Long Xi stays outside the shelter to fight Dhruv’s giant shikigami, exploiting its dependence on balance and movement. Costly vows and two Black Flashes destroy it, but the pterosaur swarm leaves him nearly helpless. Dhruv then pierces his heart and kills personnel who try to defend him 23 26 27 28.
Long Xi learns Reverse Cursed Technique, pursues Dhruv, and dismantles his orbit formations with Flame Seeds, Void, and collapsing terrain. After killing him, Long Xi confirms that the surviving civilians are safe and personally buries the dead with Yuta’s assistance 29 30 31 32 33.
Yuta’s recognition introduces a timeline mystery: he says Long Xi disappeared six months earlier and that Gojo searched for him. Long Xi had believed he was in a separate instance, leaving its connection to the wider world unresolved 32.
Ryu and Uro Confrontation
With Sweet Rain and a second account, Long Xi fights Ryu before Uro joins the confrontation. Their superior output and spatial control force him to abandon overconfident assumptions and use further vows, healing, and coordinated attacks 34 35 36 38 39.
Yuta assists during the later battle. In the final exchange with Ryu, Long Xi abandons a planned shortcut and combines rain and flame power, while prepared cursed-energy raindrops weaken Ryu and secure victory. He spares the defeated opponents, and their hostility gives way to cooperation 41 42 43.
Ryu’s transfer brings Long Xi to 200 Culling Game points, with Uro having already surrendered hers. Long Xi proposes using rule changes to prohibit Domain Expansion and identifies Sukuna as his next target; the proposed prohibition is not shown being enacted 44.
Training, Settlement, and Return
Long Xi studies barrier fundamentals with Uro and spars with Ryu. Unable to master a domain quickly, he instead hunts curses across Sendai and its coastal waters to strengthen an ancient sword. Before leaving, he shares dinner with the rescued evacuees 46.
The instance ends with an A+ rating and 270,000 followers and counting. Back with Yuji and Megumi, he approaches the delayed Grade 2 mission with much greater confidence. That confidence contributes to the trio beating a cursed human they mistake for their target. Long Xi and Yuji subsequently take the injured man to a hospital, while Megumi remains behind and tracks the actual spirit 47 48 49.
