Chen Ye received two cartons of Chunghwa, two cartons of Hongtashan, and a few packs of Qunyinghui and other cigarette brands.

There were also two bottles of baijiu, two jars of Lao Gan Ma, and seasonings such as oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar.

The others received much the same supplies, though Chen Ye had been given first pick of the two cartons of Chunghwa.

Chen Ye had no complaints about that.

They had agreed beforehand that he would receive twenty percent, and twenty percent was what he got. He approved of this arrangement.

If he ran out of cigarettes later, he could trade with Captain Chu and the others for more.

In fact, of the convoy's four sequence transcendents, Chen Ye was the only smoker.

But cigarettes and alcohol were hard currency. Even if they did not use them themselves, they could trade them to others for supplies.

According to Chu Che, there were plenty of convoys like theirs in the apocalypse.

If they encountered another convoy, they might even be able to trade for something good.

"Chen Ye, come trade with me when you run out of cigarettes! Since we're teammates, I'll give you a discount!"

The Long-Legged Girl waved the carton of Lotus cigarettes in her hand and giggled.

"Sounds good. Just go easy on me when the time comes, Big Sis Nana!"

"Hehe..."

The girl seemed to like that form of address. She beamed, her long black hair gleaming in the apocalyptic sunset.

Next came Nana's backpack.

Nana's backpack was clearly much larger than either of Chen Ye's two packs.

Even though her sequence did not specialize in physical strength, the Long-Legged Girl's physical abilities were still far beyond those of an ordinary person.

The pack on her back held around ninety liters. It was the kind bought by outdoor enthusiasts who went trekking with heavy loads, a top-of-the-line pack that would have cost at least several thousand yuan even before the apocalypse.

Chen Ye had been interested in hiking for a while.

That gave him some idea of what the Long-Legged Girl's ninety-liter pack was like.

Even an adult man would struggle to carry a ninety-liter hiking pack like that.

Yet on the Long-Legged Girl's back, it seemed to weigh nothing.

Perhaps that was one of the abilities of a sequence transcendent.

Iron Lion had once said that after awakening as a sequence transcendent, his physical abilities had improved dramatically in a very short time.

It seemed this benefit was not exclusive to the titan sequence. Other sequences probably offered some improvement too.

The Long-Legged Girl opened her pack, grabbed its two straps, and dumped everything inside onto the ground.

The contents piled up into a small mountain.

The surrounding survivors let out a chorus of astonished "Wow!"

The supplies in this pack were distinctly different from Chen Ye's.

It contained practically everything imaginable.

There were all sorts of spicy strips, chicken drumsticks, sandwich cookies, chocolate, and even potato chips.

Chen Ye did not even know what to say.

Whenever survivors went scavenging, potato chips were the last thing they wanted to take. They offered the worst return for the space they occupied: bulky, light, and a terrible waste of room.

He had never expected the Long-Legged Girl to bring back so many.

There were also plenty of toiletries, such as toothpaste and shampoo.

She had even brought feminine hygiene products.

Chen Ye could understand that. Girls liked looking their best, after all. There was nothing wrong with packing those things.

Most of the survivors around them were girls, and many of their eyes lit up at the sight.

Just like the male survivors' eyes had lit up at the cigarettes and alcohol earlier.

The rest consisted of sought-after staples such as potatoes, flour, and rice.

Those had clearly come from the cellar of the village chief's large villa.

The Long-Legged Girl was not finished yet. She opened her other backpack too.

This was the pack she had been carrying in front of her, considerably smaller than the ninety-liter one on her back.

When she opened it and revealed its contents, everyone's expression turned peculiar.

The entire pack was full of beer!

Can after can of beer filled it to the brim.

At a time like this, that crazy woman had actually brought back beer from a supply run?

It was simply...

Realization dawned in Chen Ye's eyes. So that was it.

Each of the convoy's four sequence transcendents had a personal vice.

Captain Chu Che liked tea, the long-legged sword immortal girl liked alcohol, and Chen Ye himself liked cigarettes.

He wondered what that big lug liked.

Chu Che looked utterly resigned as well. Clearly, he was already used to Nana's antics.

The girl's delicate brows shot up, and a glare from her pretty eyes silenced all the jeering around her.

"What are you staring at? I'll take whatever the hell I want!"

Faced with her ferocity, the survivors hastily averted their eyes.

"I'm taking this. We can divide the rest!"

The Long-Legged Girl picked a jar of hair dye out of the supplies and announced it with a giggle.

Chen Ye glanced at it and said nothing more.

Nana was only a teenage girl, after all. Nobody had any objection to her wanting a new hair color.

The Long-Legged Girl's supplies were soon divided.

Chen Ye received four five-hundred-milliliter cans of beer, a bag of rice, a dozen or so jin of potatoes and corn, and some shampoo, body wash, and other toiletries.

But he had not bathed in a month or so, and he had nowhere to use the shampoo and body wash.

The thought made Chen Ye feel uncomfortable all over.

Before the apocalypse, Chen Ye had showered every day, even in winter.

After months without a shower, he felt as though he was starting to go rancid.

Chen Ye had no particular attachment to beer, so he planned to trade it to the Long-Legged Girl for that carton of Lotus cigarettes in a little while.

Old Li had also collected plenty of supplies on Iron Lion's behalf, and now he was grinning from ear to ear.

In the apocalypse, supplies mattered more than anything else.

Last came the mountainous backpack belonging to the hulking Iron Lion.

Chen Ye was most interested in the supplies inside this pack.

Back at the little supermarket beneath the Big Willow Tree, the big man had used this very pack to gather supplies like mad.

With one sweep of his huge hand, he had scooped an entire shelf's worth of supplies into it.

Nearly half the supplies in that little supermarket had ended up in this backpack.

The pack clearly was not a factory-made product. It had probably been modified by hand after the apocalypse to help the big man gather supplies more efficiently.

Its outer fabric was now damaged in several places, and much of it was coated in dust.

It took three survivors working together to carry the bulging pack into the middle of the canopy.

Uncle Abao opened it in front of everyone.

The contents of the bulging backpack were soon laid out for all to see.

Compared with Chen Ye's and Nana's packs, the supplies in this one were much more straightforward.

Apart from a huge quantity of provisions, there was nothing else inside.

Besides large bag after large bag of instant noodles, there were seven or eight kinds of dried noodles: round, thick, flat, thin-every variety imaginable.

Those dried noodles alone would keep one person fed for a long time.

Chen Ye even spotted several cases of bottled water among them.

His eyes brightened slightly at the sight.

They were in a desert now, after all. Food and water were equally important.

The water he had scavenged in Apricot Blossom Town was nearly gone.

This bottled water came just in time to meet their urgent need.

The bottles themselves were also valuable supplies in this apocalypse. Once empty, they could still be used to store water.

If they encountered another downpour like last night's, those empty bottles would come in handy.

The rest included various canned fruits and meats, along with large quantities of potatoes, corn, rice, and flour.

Presumably, those supplies had been scavenged from the old village chief's home.

Those items alone took up more than half the space.

At last, a faint, genuine smile appeared on Captain Chu Che's face.

Finally, someone who did not give him a headache.
