Background / History

Before the apocalypse, Yang Feng belonged to one of Hong Kong’s leading wealthy families. He operated an investment company and several casinos, supplemented by lending and debt collection, and maintained connections on both sides of the law. Zhou Xinghai, later a member of his convoy, had been technical director at one of his companies 45 46.

After the apocalypse, Yang formed the Blood Eagle Convoy. Its strength persuaded Zhao Biao to abandon a planned robbery and trade with him instead. The two drank together two days before Zhao’s death; their acquaintance later became Yang’s pretext for confronting Shen Ye 22 47.

Appearance

  • Eyes: Sharp and hawklike; visibly bloodshot after the prolonged pursuit of Shen Ye 44 46 47.
  • Clothing: Patterned floral silk shirt, white suit trousers, pointed white leather shoes, a beige cowboy hat, and sunglasses 46 47.
  • Hair: Sparse stubble on his scalp, exposed when his hat falls during battle 48.
  • Condition during the pursuit: Pronounced dark circles and an exhausted, haggard appearance caused by inadequate sleep 44.

Personality

Yang presents himself as a composed businessman, alternating intimidation with promises of reward. He interrogates Cheng Shun harshly, then offers compensation while keeping him and his companions under the Blood Eagle Convoy’s control. Against Shen Ye, he adopts a benevolent, paternal manner before turning openly hostile when his demand is refused 23 47.

His ambition becomes an obsession with Ghost Head. He regards the weapon as already belonging to him, reduces his convoy’s daily rest from six hours to four, and continues pursuing it despite mounting casualties. Although he knows the chase was his own decision, he blames Cheng Shun and uses violence against him to vent frustration and reinforce his weakening authority 44 45.

Yang retains some tactical caution: he verifies the RV’s identity before ordering an encirclement and initially discourages Chen Na from using her firearm because ammunition is difficult to obtain. When defeat becomes imminent, however, he accepts the Crimson Leech Heart’s life-force cost and ultimately abandons the battle to flee 46 49 50.

Abilities & Skills

Knife-on-Credit Sequence

  • An offensive Sequence pathway granting Knife Credit Pact and Decapitation Oath 23.
  • By the fight with Shen Ye, Yang’s near-advancement physique allows him to survive blows that would have killed an ordinary Sequence 9 Awakened 48.
  • His superior physique does not overcome Shen Ye’s combined sequences, invisible weapon, and fear-inducing Slaughter Mark 47 48.

Knife Credit Pact

  • Infuses a held blade with sequence power, increasing its sharpness and destructive force 23.
  • During the duel, coats the Life-Bound Blade in a gilded sheen, seals a chip in its edge, and temporarily doubles its sharpness and destructive power 48.
  • Creates a blade debt that must be repaid with an enemy’s life within an allotted time; failure brings backlash. The exact deadline is not stated 48.

Decapitation Oath

  • Uses an invisible force of law to direct the next strike toward a vital point 48.
  • Requires a large expenditure of power, enough to make Yang’s body sway when activated 48.
  • Its intended heart strike fails against Shen Ye: Slaughter Mark causes Yang’s fingers to shift involuntarily, sending the blade into Shen’s left shoulder instead 48.

Convoy Command

  • Coordinates heavy vehicles to block both ends of the road while the remaining vehicles surround the target convoy 46.
  • Maintains obedience through threats of death, physical punishment, and promised rewards 44 45 46.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Life-Bound Blade — A silver-white blade with ancient seal-script characters along its spine, approximately half a foot shorter than Ghost Head. Yang obtained it at an enormous cost, and it had not failed him in previous battles. Ghost Head chips its edge during their first clash 47 48.
  • Crimson Leech Heart — A Weird Object originally worn by Chen Na as a necklace. Applied to Yang’s back, it heals wounds and enhances combat ability by drawing on future vitality; it also leaves the user weakened afterward. Shen Ye removes it from Yang’s corpse 48 49 50.
  • Black Rolls-Royce — Yang’s transport during the pursuit and his attempted escape vehicle. It crashes into a guardrail after Shen Ye kills him 44 46 50.
  • Radios — Used to confirm the target’s identity and issue convoy-wide encirclement orders 46.

Relationships

  • Chen Na — Lover and adviser on Weird Objects. Her assessment of Ghost Head encourages Yang’s pursuit; she later activates the Crimson Leech Heart on him and intervenes in the battle with gunfire 23 48 49.
  • Cheng Shun — Informant and tracker formerly associated with Zhao Biao. Yang promises him a reward for obtaining Ghost Head but subsequently beats and threatens him over the pursuit’s losses 23 44 45.
  • Zhao Biao — Recent trading acquaintance and drinking companion. Yang falsely elevates their connection into “brotherhood” to justify demanding Shen Ye’s weapon 22 47.
  • Zhou Zhiqiang — Sequence 9 Beastman subordinate whom Yang calls into the duel. They attack Shen Ye together after Yang receives the Crimson Leech Heart enhancement 48 49.
  • Zhou Xinghai — Former company technical director. His mechanical inspection establishes that the pursued convoy used a gas station less than five hours earlier, renewing Yang’s determination to chase it 45.
  • Shen Ye — Target and eventual killer. Yang seeks to seize Ghost Head, underestimates Shen’s powers, and dies while attempting to escape him 23 47 50.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Pursuit of Ghost Head

Cheng Shun’s report of Zhao Biao’s death introduces Yang to Ghost Head’s invisibility and lethality. Chen Na estimates that it ranks within the top ten thousand Weird Objects and suggests its wielder may be merely an ordinary skilled fighter. Yang decides to pursue the weapon despite the detour from the Blood Eagle Convoy’s intended route to the uncertain Northern Refuge 22 23.

The pursuit devastates his convoy:

Encounter Losses
Gray fog Six vehicles and their passengers disappear into the fog 44.
Tree Spirits Several vehicles must be burned to enable escape 44.
Qianxing Village High-tier Eldritch kill more than a dozen men; a Sequence 9 subordinate dies helping the survivors escape 44.
Overall decline Membership falls from more than 130 to fewer than 50 44.

Yang nearly abandons the chase, but evidence of recently used fuel pumps and the RV’s distinctive tire tracks restores his hope. He resumes pursuit toward Wu City and moves to the front passenger seat to watch for the target himself 45.

Confrontation with the Dawn Convoy

After confirming the RV’s identity, Yang surrounds the Dawn Convoy. He initially claims to seek justice for Zhao Biao, then offers Shen Ye membership and continued ownership of the RV in exchange for Ghost Head. Shen refuses 46 47.

Yang’s confidence collapses under Slaughter Mark. Ghost Head damages his blade, his decisive oath strike misses Shen’s heart, and his right arm is badly wounded. He summons Zhou Zhiqiang and pressures Chen Na to activate the Crimson Leech Heart 47 48.

The enhancement fails to reverse the battle. As Yang and Zhou attack together, Shen’s attribute-draining ability makes them progressively weaker. Chen Na’s gunfire and hostage-taking briefly interrupt Shen, but An Ning’s intervention protects Song Shiya and defeats that leverage 49.

Death

Yang attempts to escape in his Rolls-Royce, believing he can survive and return. Shen Ye throws Ghost Head through the vehicle, killing him. Shen retrieves the Crimson Leech Heart from his body and orders the remaining enemies eliminated; 37 Blood Eagle members who failed to escape are killed 50.
