In Li Jie's hospital room, Wilson drove an electric wheelchair in wild spins all over the floor, as if it were breakdancing. "Look how awesome this thing is!"

"Ah..."

Li Jie tipped his head back onto the pillow behind him. "Can someone throw him out for me?"

Dr. Meyer Krude set a thick stack of visitation requests in front of Li Jie.

"Sheriff, I knew plenty of people would want to visit once your health permitted it. But..."

"Am I an injured man confined to bed, or a monkey people come to gawk at in a zoo...?"

Li Jie quickly leafed through them: colleagues from the East End and Central Headquarters, the children at the school, suppliers, Cobblepot and some government officials he got along with, gangs large and small, all sorts of friends-even a visitation request from Ian Fleming.

He tried hard to cross some off, but still felt too awkward to reject people's goodwill.
