"What nonsense are you talking about? You're the one who insisted on coming back to work."

Li Jie pushed Wilson down into a chair. As he straightened up, he spotted Edward Nygma walking briskly into the forensics lab.

"What about you, Ed? Don't you want to take a day off and go out somewhere? You're practically living at the station."

"I'm fine." Nygma smiled gently. "The new equipment and database access you secured for the Forensics Division are more useful than any entertainment." He paused, then added, "Besides, it's quiet here."

"All right, suit yourself." Li Jie scratched his head and sighed. "If we could recover that dirty money Black Mask pocketed, I'd try to get funding for staff dorms. Then I could ditch that crappy apartment that costs a few hundred bucks. Ugh..."

Li Jie sighed. "Now I want to beat up Cobblepot even more. Forget it..."

He waved a hand. "Gordon dumped that Dismemberment Case from a while back on me and asked for help... Oh, right, did he say yesterday that his daughter's already fifteen? I always thought she was only five or six."

"How could she be five or six? Look at him, he's almost forty." Wilson snorted. "You really are completely clueless about this stuff."

"No wonder that stuff I gave him last time didn't do much... Huh?"

Nygma put on his gloves and pulled open the morgue freezer. Cold air hissed out, condensing into white mist.

"Jay, stop chatting and give me a hand. Can we focus on the case?"

"Okay, okay! Ed, you're right."

Together, they pulled the heavy metal coffin out along the freezer rails and transferred it onto a trolley. Then they hauled it onto the autopsy table and settled it into place.
