Seeing Nagato and the other two agree to join Konoha, Jiraiya let out a long sigh of relief.
It seemed none of his efforts had been wasted.
Once the personal information and records of Nagato and the others had been filed with the Personnel Department,
with Jiraiya and Kushina Uzumaki vouching for them, and Nagato himself belonging to the Uzumaki Clan,
the three of them joined Konoha without a hitch.
Together with Kushina,
they moved into the territory Konoha had allotted to the Uzumaki Clan.
Fortunately, the area was large enough.
And after the three moved in, Minato Namikaze somehow ended up moving there too.
The five got along well, and Jiraiya dropped by from time to time to hold a little meeting with them.
Hoshizuki Hyuga rarely visited, since she lived with the Hyuga Clan.
On the few occasions she did come, she wore a cold, aloof expression.
Still, she patiently taught Nagato how to use the Rinnegan.
At the very least, Nagato could now use the Rinnegan to fly short distances.
"Your eyes have no dōjutsu power. It's strange. I wouldn't recommend using them too much."
During her instruction, Hoshizuki Hyuga pointed out Nagato's problem.
She said no more... In her view... those eyes might not belong to Nagato.
Nagato was merely converting his immense chakra and life force into dōjutsu power, barely managing to use the Rinnegan.
But over time, doing so would drain his life force.

Nagato spoke with his head lowered.
In truth, he had his own suspicions.
Although his eyes were powerful, he could not deactivate them, and using them took a great deal of effort.
