Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Innate Tenseigan and sage body 92 Yuya nourishes her before birth with Great Dao power, granting an extraordinary constitution, immense chakra potential, and powerful dōjutsu.
Improved Tenseigan perception 160 Su Ye teaches her to quiet her mind and concentrate her ocular power instead of scanning indiscriminately. Her vision improves dramatically, revealing ambushers several kilometers away.
Advanced Tenseigan control; true Eight Trigrams and Taiji instruction 172 175 Su Ye demonstrates the eye’s proper use and teaches her the original fighting principles. Her suppression of ordinary Byakugan becomes strong enough to enforce her clan reforms. Full fusion of Eight Trigrams and Taiji could lead to Six Paths-level power, but she remains far from that achievement.
Mastered space-time ninjutsu 185 Minato’s instruction unlocks the spatial abilities already dormant in her Tenseigan. She learns to sense a familiar presence and teleport after it.
Super Kage-level assessment 186 Orochimaru states that her strength and legendary eyes have already brought her to Super Kage level. The exact time she reached this level is not given.

Background / History

Birth and Childhood

Hoshizuki is born alongside Princess Kaguya’s reincarnation. Yuya strengthens both children and their mother before delivery, ensuring the mother survives a birth that would otherwise have killed her. After taking Kaguya away, he erases the Hyuga Clan’s memories of the twins, leaving them to believe only one child was born 91 92.

Yuya’s intervention also alters Hoshizuki’s expected future. He initially sees her becoming Hyuga Hiashi’s wife and the mother of Hinata and Hanabi, but afterward observes that her destined marriage to Hiashi has been broken, with Shisui Uchiha appearing as a possible replacement. These are glimpses of changing destiny, not confirmation of a completed marriage 92.

Although she belongs to the Branch Family, Hoshizuki’s exceptional talent and Tenseigan earn her Main Family treatment. She is raised as the clan heir’s intended wife without receiving the Caged Bird Seal. Hiashi supports both her exemption from the seal and her later decision to study under Jiraiya, despite opposition from the elders 166 167.

Hoshizuki receives instruction from Yuya but declines his childhood offer to leave with him because she cannot abandon her mother. She also believes his affection belongs to another girl. A later visit from Yuya and Kaguya becomes her most treasured childhood memory 154 163.

Jiraiya’s Team and the Second Shinobi World War

Jiraiya introduces Hoshizuki to Minato and Kushina as their gifted, one-year senior. All three have already received Yuya’s personal guidance, so Jiraiya describes himself as their instructor rather than their true master 122.

During his bell test, Hoshizuki exposes Jiraiya’s hiding place, absorbs his Fire Release, and nearly controls Gamahiro. Her limited reserves leave her vulnerable to the combined Toad Oil Flame Bullet, forcing Minato to rescue her. Jiraiya subsequently isolates her inside his Toad Mouth Binding Technique 123 124.

The team eventually turns the fight around. Hoshizuki suppresses the giant toads and forces Gamahiro into the path of Kushina’s Tailed Beast Bomb, while Minato coordinates their attacks and takes the bells 126.

During the Second Shinobi World War, Hoshizuki becomes one of Konoha’s most feared fighters. Her reputation, threat, and potential are described as exceeding even Kushina’s and Minato’s. Foreign nations seek ways to steal her Tenseigan, but its long-range, omnidirectional vision exposes their schemes 128.

Reunion with Yuya and Meeting Su Ye

When Yuya’s avatar confronts a cosmic threat above Earth, Hoshizuki flies beyond the atmosphere to approach him. She exhausts her chakra and ocular power and begins falling, accepting that her reckless flight may kill her. Yuya catches her and affectionately calls her his “little sister-in-law” 154.

She later awakens injured beside Su Ye, a distinct incarnation of Yuya. When he identifies himself as the Heavenly Emperor, she refuses to believe him and attacks him for impersonation. Their confrontation ends with his apology and her reluctant thanks for saving her 157.

Traveling toward Konoha, Hoshizuki gradually comes to respect Su Ye’s perception and intelligence. When they encounter ninja pursuing a supposed treasure of the Heavenly Emperor, she considers burning her life force to seize it despite having no chakra left. Su Ye intervenes and arranges an ambush instead. She retrieves a notebook that she reveres as a treasure, although Su Ye recognizes it as one of his old ninjutsu notebooks 160 163 164 165 166.

Hoshizuki brings Su Ye into the Hyuga compound and openly takes his hand, provoking gossip about her expected marriage to Hiashi. Her growing affection is hurt when she overhears Su Ye say he is not interested in her. He deliberately makes the remark to discourage a relationship he believes his temporary existence cannot sustain 166 170.

Leadership of the Hyuga Clan

Hoshizuki nevertheless defies her father, grandfather, and clan elders when they threaten Su Ye, declaring him her guest and refusing to let them attack. After Su Ye overwhelms the leadership and condemns the clan’s decline, Nitten Hyuga publicly acknowledges her as clan head. He dies that night after entrusting her with the clan’s authority 171 172 174 175.

Her reforms dismantle the hierarchy that had restricted her own family:

  • Main Family–Branch Family division abolished: all clan members receive the same family standing 175.
  • Caged Bird branding ended: the seal is no longer imposed on Branch Family members 175.
  • Outsider-marriage restrictions revised: she changes the clan’s ban on marrying outsiders 175.
  • Succession restructured: anyone who awakens the Tenseigan becomes clan head; otherwise, an acting leader is selected through strength and a vote 175.

Main Family opposition collapses under her Tenseigan’s pressure. Her existing prestige among the younger generation and Su Ye’s support further secure her position. Once established, she leaves routine administration to Hiashi because she has little interest in managing daily clan affairs 175 179.

Pursuit of Su Ye and Capture

Su Ye repeatedly avoids Hoshizuki to prevent giving her false hope. After missing him at the Uchiha compound, she asks Minato to teach her space-time ninjutsu. She rapidly develops her Tenseigan’s dormant spatial powers and resumes pursuing Su Ye through teleportation 183 185.

In the Land of Water, Orochimaru offers to lead her to Su Ye but instead brings her to a swamp containing an ancient Spirit Realm beast. He claims that Su Ye wants her to kill it before they can meet. Suspicious, she immobilizes Orochimaru and seals his chakra pathways before confronting the creature 186 187.

Her opening Shinra Tensei consumes nearly a tenth of her ocular power while barely injuring the beast. She switches to Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion, but Orochimaru secretly escapes and watches, intending to collect “materials” once both combatants are exhausted 187.

Orochimaru subsequently delivers Hoshizuki unconscious to a white-haired incarnation of Yuya. That incarnation intends to use her genetic identity with Princess Kaguya, together with another clone’s Kaguya chakra, to create a replacement Kaguya 188.

Appearance

  • Hair: long and black, often swept aside by the wind while she flies 159.
  • Eyes: described as silver or blue-white, with a cyan or azure glow when her Tenseigan power manifests 122 157 186.
  • Clothing: flowing white garments, including white gauze 159 171 185.
  • Bearing: graceful and ethereal while hovering, frequently compared to a celestial maiden or divine figure 123 147 159.
  • Resemblance: closely resembles her twin, the reincarnated Kaguya; this resemblance troubles Su Ye because he fears confusing his feelings for the two 183.

Personality

Hoshizuki is usually cold, reserved, and difficult to approach. She treats strangers with detached politeness and initially considers most shinobi unworthy of admiration. Her confidence is reinforced by years of effortless superiority over her peers, but that same upbringing leaves her inexperienced against opponents who can genuinely challenge her 163 168 171 187.

Her devotion to the Heavenly Emperor is unusually intense. She risks her injured body to defend his honor and considers sacrificing her life force to recover something associated with him. Her admiration is rooted in both his importance to the world and her treasured childhood experiences with him 154 157 163.

With Su Ye, her reserve gives way to curiosity, bashfulness, warmth, and visible frustration when he escapes her pursuit. She eventually recognizes that her feelings for him are more personal and vulnerable than her distant reverence for the Heavenly Emperor 168 170 183 185.

Despite her imposing demeanor, she is compassionate and protective. She refuses to abandon her mother, worries that the apparently powerless Su Ye could be bullied, and stands against her family to protect him as her guest 154 168 171.

Abilities & Skills

Tenseigan Perception

Her Tenseigan combines penetrating vision, wide-area awareness, and sensitivity to chakra and spatial phenomena.

  • Detects the Nine-Tails’ chakra within Kushina and unusual spatial power around Minato 122.
  • Distinguishes Shadow Clones and locates Jiraiya despite his Mount Myōboku concealment technique 123.
  • Provides long-range, 360-degree penetrating vision that exposes battlefield plots and ambushes 128 160.
  • Sees impurities in Orochimaru’s meteorite-derived chakra 186.
  • Improves substantially through focused mental control rather than indiscriminate scanning 160.

Attraction, Repulsion, and Flight

The Tenseigan grants control over powerful attractive and repulsive forces.

  • Banshō Ten’in: uproots a tree and pulls the concealed Jiraiya toward her 123.
  • Shinra Tensei: deflects massed hair needles, accelerates her upward flight, and drives the prehistoric beast back into its swamp 123 124 187.
  • Flight: uses repulsive force to move freely through the air without wings 154 186.
  • Limits: elastic stomach walls disperse Shinra Tensei’s force; its broad-area damage is inefficient against a single heavily defended target 124 187.

Chakra Absorption and Ocular Control

  • Absorbs Jiraiya’s Fire Dragon Flame Bullet directly through her palm 123.
  • Nearly takes control of Gamahiro during the bell test and later suppresses giant toad summons 123 126.
  • Overwhelms ordinary Byakugan users with ocular pressure; those resisting her reforms risk their eyes bursting 175.
  • Limits: at nine years old, she cannot absorb the entire combined Toad Oil Flame Bullet. Yuya’s removal of the Nine-Tails’ inherited restraints also prevents her Tenseigan from suppressing it 122 123.

Reincarnation Explosion Techniques

  • Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion: a possible answer to Jiraiya’s combined flames. At nine, she can use it only once before exhausting her combat reserves; Minato rescues her before she activates it 123.
  • Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion: gathers silvery-white chakra into a powerful beam during her battle with the prehistoric beast 187.

Gentle Fist, Eight Trigrams, and Taiji

  • Eight Trigrams Gentle Fist Heaven Palm: combines immobilization with rapid, precise strikes to seal Orochimaru’s chakra pathways and points 187.
  • Learns the true Eight Trigrams and Taiji from Su Ye after becoming clan head 175.
  • Full integration of the two arts could grant Six Paths-level power without becoming the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki, but she has not achieved that integration 175.

Space-Time Ninjutsu

Minato’s teaching helps Hoshizuki develop spatial abilities innate to her Tenseigan.

  • Teleports by entering spatial ripples 185 186.
  • Senses Su Ye’s familiar presence and follows it through space 185.
  • Uses teleportation to close the distance on Orochimaru before restraining him 187.

Constitution and Chakra Aptitude

  • Born with a sage body, extraordinary ocular power, and immense chakra potential through Yuya’s intervention 92.
  • Possesses seven chakra attributes, prompting Jiraiya to compare her aptitude with Nagato’s 143.
  • Her dōjutsu naturally strengthens as she grows older; she initially knows no specific cultivation method for increasing it 147.
  • Her eyes offer a path toward Quasi-Six Paths power, but potential should not be confused with a confirmed attainment of that rank 128 175.

Equipment / Items

  • Heavenly Emperor’s notebook — recovered from ninja transporting a supposed divine treasure. Hoshizuki prizes it, while Su Ye identifies it as an old ninjutsu notebook 165 166.

Relationships

  • Princess Kaguya — twin sister in Kaguya’s reincarnated life. Their close resemblance and shared genes later make Hoshizuki a target for another Yuya incarnation’s replacement-Kaguya scheme 92 183 188.
  • Ōtsutsuki Yuya / Heavenly Emperor — childhood benefactor, instructor, and object of lifelong reverence. He empowers her before birth and later saves her from falling back to Earth 92 154 163.
  • Su Ye — rescuer, traveling companion, guest, and later mentor. Her admiration develops into romantic attachment, but he deliberately distances himself because of his unstable existence as an incarnation and his love for Kaguya 157 166 170 175 183.
  • Jiraiya — team instructor. She chooses to become his disciple despite clan opposition and becomes his most senior student 122 143 167.
  • Minato Namikaze — junior teammate who rescues her during the bell test and later teaches her space-time ninjutsu 123 126 185.
  • Kushina Uzumaki — junior teammate and fellow recipient of Yuya’s guidance. Their shared connection establishes trust, although Minato’s rescue of Hoshizuki briefly provokes Kushina’s jealousy 122 124.
  • Hyuga Hiashi, the young clan heir — intended husband and childhood admirer whose feelings she does not return. He supports her freedom within the clan and later handles routine affairs under her leadership 166 167 179.
  • Nitten Hyuga — former clan leader who initially condemns her defiance, then recognizes her as the clan’s future and transfers authority to her before dying 171 174 175.
  • Nagato — junior fellow student who consults her about ocular power. She cannot solve his Rinnegan difficulties but directs his hopes toward the Heavenly Emperor 143 147.
  • Orochimaru — manipulates her search for Su Ye, arranges her confrontation with the prehistoric beast, and delivers her unconscious to another incarnation of Yuya 186 187 188.
