The atmosphere in the airship's conference room was solemn.
Chairman Netero sat at the head of the table, his hands folded in front of him, wearing his signature, inscrutable smile.
The candidates entered the room one by one in order of their badge numbers for their final interviews.
Rather than an interview, this was more of a test.
Netero wanted to use a few simple questions to probe the hearts of these future Hunters.
Leorio went in first.
"Why do you want to become a Hunter?" Netero asked.
"For money!" Leorio answered without hesitation. "I want to make lots and lots of money, then study medicine and become a doctor! I want to cure everyone who can't afford medical care!"
Netero smiled. "A fine ambition. Now, which of the candidates interests you most?"
Leorio thought for a moment and scratched his head. "Probably Kurapika and Gon. We're companions.
"Oh, and Lin Yan. That guy's always mysterious, but he's a good person."
The interview was simple, and Leorio soon came out.
Kurapika was next.
His answers were calm and restrained, clearly organized.
When asked why he wanted to become a Hunter, he mentioned his desire to recover his people's relics.
When asked whom he least wanted to fight, he answered Hisoka without hesitation.
Everything was more or less as Netero had expected.
Then it was Killua's turn.
The silver-haired boy sauntered into the room with his hands in his pockets, leaning back slightly.
"Have a seat." Netero pointed to the chair opposite him.
Killua pulled out the chair and plopped down, even crossing his legs as he gave Netero a lazy look. "Come on, old man. If you've got questions, hurry up and ask. This is boring."
"Heh heh heh." Netero wasn't offended. He tapped his fingertips lightly against the table.
