"Was it finally over?"
"Yeah, more or less. Come on, let's head back."
Meihui called for the others to head back. Sure enough, the moment he stepped through Konoha's gates, the ANBU summoned him to see the Hokage.
Tsunade was furious. As soon as Meihui arrived, she launched into a scathing tirade.
"You little brat, why did you have to attack him? Ugh, argh! You've put me in a really difficult position!"
Tsunade regarded Meihui with mixed feelings. When she'd first met him, he'd been so sunny and friendly, practically a carbon copy of Minato. But now? Why had his personality changed along with his hair color?
"What's wrong, Lady Tsunade? Did something happen?"
"You little brat, don't play dumb with me. How could you not know what happened?" Tsunade rolled her eyes at Meihui. Now the kid was pretending to be clueless.
"Oh, you mean Lord Danzo? What's wrong with Lord Danzo? Did something happen to him?"
Meihui opened his eyes wide, tears glistening in them. He looked utterly pitiful, as though he'd suffered some terrible injustice.
Tsunade stared in bewilderment. Sasuke and Naruto, who had come with him, turned their heads away, as if to declare they didn't know this guy. Even Itachi had his entire worldview upended by Meihui's performance. What was this act? It was just absurd.
Even Tsunade, who had seen more than her share of things, couldn't stop her mouth from twitching. You really have some thick skin, kid. He could give Jiraiya a run for his money, though there was something different about it.
Jiraiya's shamelessness revolved around that particular subject, but Meihui's went even further. They used it differently: Jiraiya was simply shameless, while Meihui had turned his shamelessness into a weapon of his own.
It was like Naruto's Talk no Jutsu.
