After the first match ended, the names on the big screen began scrolling again. The first to stop was Meihui's.
Seeing that he had been selected, Meihui used the Body Flicker Technique to appear in the arena. He stood there quietly, watching the big screen, wondering who his opponent would be.
Finally, the scrolling names stopped. I choose you, Six Paths Dosu!
When Meihui saw that his opponent was Dosu, his interest perked up. He was ready to have some fun with the guy.
Still, Meihui kindly advised him, "You're no match for me. Why don't you surrender?"
Dosu, who had already come down from the spectator stands, flew into a rage at Meihui's words.
"Hey, hey, hey, brat! Even if you're a tiny bit stronger than me, that doesn't mean you can be so arrogant!" As he spoke, Dosu raised the weapon mounted on his arm.
Meihui could only sigh. He had already warned the guy. If Dosu wouldn't listen, he couldn't blame Meihui for what happened next.
"If you want to fight, then let's fight."
Seeing that both contestants were ready, Gekko Hayate quickly announced the start of the match.
"Go get him, big bro!" Naruto didn't forget to cheer Meihui on. Sasuke, who had already returned to the stands, also watched Meihui, a faint smile slipping onto his face.
"Take this, brat!" Dosu struck first, hoping to catch Meihui off guard. But while his hopes were rosy, reality was harsh.
Meihui already knew about Dosu's sonic attacks and had sealed off his hearing as soon as the match began.
He had no need for it right now anyway. His eardrums wouldn't even vibrate, let alone allow an attack on his cochlea to disrupt his balance. That was nothing but a pipe dream.
Dosu was dumbfounded. Thinking his precious weapon had broken, he hurriedly inspected it from every angle.
When he found nothing wrong with it, Dosu became even more confused. What was going on?
"Hey, why aren't you affected by my attacks? What the hell is going on?"
Seeing Dosu suddenly stop attacking and stand frozen in place, Meihui had no idea what he was doing. Only after watching him for a while did he realize the guy was actually talking.
"What? What did you say? I can't hear you. Why do you have bandages wrapped around your face, anyway? Are you so ugly you can't show your face?" Meihui unleashed a three-hit combo of insults.
When Dosu saw Meihui cup his ear while remaining unaffected by his attacks, he figured it out. Somehow, this guy had blocked off his hearing.
But I'm not deaf! Who insults someone right to their face like that?
So? You will be like them. Abandon me. Will you?
Dosu had no idea why those words suddenly popped into his head. Already numb with shock, he simply charged forward like an idiot.
He was determined to fight Meihui to the death. Seeing this dumbass charging straight in to get himself killed, Meihui didn't overthink it. He stepped up and sent him flying with one punch, even putting a little monstrous strength into it.
Dosu was blasted away, but all his gear stayed right where he had been standing. Wearing nothing but a pair of big red boxers, he became a streak of red light.
With a bang, Dosu slammed into the arena wall, lodging himself so firmly that he couldn't even be pried loose.
Only after being sent flying did Dosu realize how ridiculous he had been, and just how vast the gap was between his strength and that of the man before him.
Filled with resentment and regret, he passed out.
Seeing that Dosu had been sent flying, Gekko Hayate hurriedly announced the result.
"Meihui Uzumaki wins this match."
Up in the stands, Naruto and Sasuke couldn't help marveling. This monster had gotten stronger again.
Others might have watched that punch against Dosu for a laugh, but Naruto and Sasuke had recognized it for what it was: perfect control over chakra and force. Otherwise, the guy in the big red boxers would have been pounded into pulp.
"Damn it, he's gotten stronger again." Watching Meihui pull that off left Sasuke feeling irritated, but he soon let it go.
"Ugh, forget it. That guy isn't human. There's no comparing myself to him." Uchiha Sasuke was busy lying to himself.
