Afterward, Minato Namikaze went outside and found two unconscious Anbu ninja.
After examining them and determining that they were under genjutsu, Minato Namikaze formed a hand seal, gathered a mass of energy at his fingertips, and sent it into their bodies to release them.
The two slowly regained consciousness, then immediately jumped to their feet and scanned their surroundings warily. Only when they recognized the man before them did they relax. Neither realized that they had been caught in genjutsu.
Seeing this, Hiruzen Sarutobi stepped forward before Minato Namikaze could speak and asked,
"What happened? How did you get caught in genjutsu?"
The two froze at his words, then looked at Minato Namikaze.
Only after Minato Namikaze nodded did they realize how serious the situation was. They had not fallen asleep earlier-they had been caught in genjutsu.
"We don't know either. We just suddenly fell asleep."
One of them spoke, and the other nodded to indicate that the same had happened to him.
Hearing their answer, Minato Namikaze and the other three frowned. They had been caught in genjutsu without even seeing anyone. That inevitably reminded the four of the legendary abilities of the Uchiha Clan's Mangekyō Sharingan.
Perhaps only the abilities awakened by those eyes could accomplish something like this.
As members of the Konoha High Command, they naturally knew some of the Mangekyō Sharingan's secrets. They simply had not expected anyone besides Madara Uchiha to awaken it.
That brought two people to Minato Namikaze's mind. The first was Yechen. During the battle against the Six-Tails, Yechen had displayed inhuman abilities, and Minato had suspected then that he had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
The other was the black-robed man wearing a Spiral Mask who had frequently appeared in Konoha lately.
According to their intelligence, that masked man also possessed
