Looking at the opening at their feet, the three exchanged glances and jumped down one after another.
Only after falling for a few seconds did Yechen realize why the Tenseigan could not see inside the forbidden grounds.
The walls of this enormous shaft were lined with iron and other rare metals, creating some strange magnetic field that could actually absorb energy.
The magnetic field had interfered with the Tenseigan's vision, causing that earlier problem.
Now that they were inside the magnetic field, however, the interference was much weaker. Clearly, this arrangement was intended to stop outsiders from discovering this place.
"Huh...!"
Just before they reached the bottom, Yechen stopped his descent and hovered in midair. He caught Tsunade and Ito Miyuki by the hands and pulled both women into his arms, keeping them from falling any farther.
He did so because there were no treasures or other sights awaiting them below. Instead, the bottom was covered in sharp spikes, each about a meter long.
Anyone without special abilities who fell onto them would certainly be impaled straight through.
Tsunade and Miyuki noticed this too. Miyuki was somewhat better off; as a reincarnated body, she could not be killed by physical attacks. Tsunade was different. Her body was not yet tough enough to withstand blades head-on, let alone metal spikes like these.
Even with the Strength of a Hundred Technique, she would undoubtedly die.
"Yechen, what's going on? Isn't this just a trap? How is this supposed to be a ruin?" Tsunade complained.
Yechen did not answer immediately. He simply felt that something was wrong.
Since this kingdom had not wanted its civilization to die out, it must have wanted future generations to come here and revive it.
It should not have gone to such great lengths to set a trap
